Roland RD700-NX Sound in 2021 (No Talking)

Still sounds wonderful, thanks. Bought my RD-700GX new in 2008 and arrived damaged in shipping. I was overseas but we were able to get the parts shipped to me so I could repair it. Later added the Supernatural kit to the 700 so from what I remember it brought it closer to the NX. Anyway, looking at a new FP-30X or maybe 60X because they are lighter. Shipping would be less and lower weight reduces the chance of damage. Just yaking I guess. Not sure about the NX poly count but the GX is 128 notes and the new 30X and 60X are at 256 notes. Ok, thank for the great jams and bringing the NX back to You Tube.

700gx is good I think. My preference is NX, GX, SX, then the original. I feel the NX polyphonic is more than GX, need to lookup the spec to be sure.

Nice. I cancelled my Kawai es920 order. I think I'll be happier with the new Yamaha DGX-670 Jeremy See has a video up with a very comprehensive overview. It offers a lot of bang for the buck.

Hi Yonathan, how do you compare this Roland RD model to Kawai Es920? In terms of Piano sounds & keyboard touch & price$$? I might return the Roland FP10. I am still waiting for new FP 90 using a total different sound engine & half wood made keypad sell for $2000 usd than new FP 60 or 30 still using same sound engine & same keypad as FP10 does. What is the sound engine your RD model use? Please advise on my digital piano search I need the best piano sound & keyboard touch closer to acoustic piano. I only buy the digital piano once and wait another 10 years to replace a new one. Thanks

If your RD has the USB port, you can use it as MIDI. If not, check if it has MIDI plug, you need the MIDI to USB cable for that.

Ok, and if I use midi, which sound is actually coming out? Is it originally from keyboard or from midi interface or sounds from garaband? I mean what you can hear is from the Roland's or from piano in the application?

hey, awesome, many thanks for posting this. now that you checked the ES920, how would you compare the SK grand vs the RD700 grand? I know it is a matter of personal taste, but am curious anyway. what do you think about the RD700 for classical? thanks.

I prefer the SK Grand. The RD700NX might not be the best for classical practice purpose I think.
