This was such a fun video to make. Hope you enjoy it.

I actually managed to grab one of these a few years back. I still haven't gotten around to test it, but the guy who sold it to me delivered it personally. He used to have it connected to an Atari ST. Since getting an SC-55 or SC-88 is quite rare and difficult, I'm happy that I have the SC-7 as it offers a very similar experience. I also have a first gen MT-32, for those really old Sierra classics. Can't wait to set it all up in the near future, once I'm done unpacking (literally just moved into a new house).

Nice! Would love to find a SC-55.

Great video bud. In fact I'm going to watch it twice. I picked up an SC-55 last year and I'm loving it. I've only ever seen a picture of the SC-7 so really enjoyed seeing it here. Sounds spot on for Doom and Duke 3D (I don't really have any experience with the other games, especially the MT32 stuff) Without doing side by side comparison, I can't tell a difference from here. Doom is usually a great indicator, you can pretty much tell within the first few seconds if it sounds off, but no, that unit sounds bang on. Nice pickup, enjoy it and crank that music up! 👌

C'mon, dude! Missing some dance moves here! :) I still prefer the tradicional soundblaster sound from Indy and the Fate of Atlantis ;) And, in relation to Raptor, Scott Host (its creator) left me a comment that Raptor 2 is a thing and coming soon ;) Awesome video, David! Really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing! Take care!

Realizing that you make it clear your loyalty is with Roland, I am still curious. Have you ever tried getting a different/additional module as an alternative to the SC7 such as one from Korg? When he was alive, I befriended Professor/Moog synthesizer coinventor Herbert A. Deutsch. He told me one time that the 05R/W module was his GM go-to, despite having more expensive digital tools at his disposal after that module was new. Having owned one of my own briefly, I always liked the GM sound set. Furthermore, this is my first video of yours. Where are you from originally?

@ 11:25 (monkey island) sounds wrong since it is composed for an MT-32, not general midi.

Classic! I still have the Roland Sound Canvas VST software laying around somewhere. Looking for an updated replacement, anyone know of any? I want to create backing tracks using Midi files I have had for years and just want something to play them with some updated sound quality. I sold my workstation a few years ago and hoping to just have a SW only option.

There was a piece of software some years ago called bandstand. It could be used as a VST as well and had some high quality samples to playback midi files

Great video! But some of the games you demoed sounded off. Try using that SC-7 with a modern pc and ScummVM to see if there is a difference...

@@DeckardGames Yes that is true, modern gaming is totally shit. I have a win98 / xp machine setup at home still with a voodoo 3000, unfortunately I can't get back home currently.
