I totally like the TR-06 has different flavors to produce different effects and it does sound like an 808 at time. Pretty neat to see this!! Next up do a Roland TR-707 boutique next up Roland TR-07!!! Long live the 80's and Italo Disco!!!

Roland should do a Boutique Roland TR-S, a drum machine sampler with the TR-08 (brain) work flow and add a microSD card slot to upload samples. Adding a render feature for exporting loops and stems would be awesome too.

Great video. Is there a difference between the TR-06 vs the TR-6S for the ACB virtual analog 606 sounds? Eg if I buy the 6S will it make the same 606 sounds as the 06?
@WH34 жыл бұрын
I don't think so? It's a companion for the boutique TB-03 and other drum machines, you lose the trigger in and out on the TR-6S but the ACB modeling technology and sounds (although parameters may be different) are the same
@totalSLACK10 ай бұрын
Thats such a good question. That's something I was wondering about the JU-06a and the J-6. obviously there's more immediate control on the JU, but as far as sound engine, are they exactly the same? Also, is the 808 sounds on the boutique TR-08 the exact same as the TR-06S?
@shaft90004 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the TR-6's discrete trigger outs. Triggering a jupiter-8's arp with the tr-606 has always been special combo for live jams. The sound is...hmmm. Here it seems more like 808-samples than it does the uniquely aggro TR-606. It should sound like _cold steel_ under tensile stress. Tr-606 hats and snare are special, although here they sound rather typically digital. And _still_ no track/song mode on these Aira drummy-things?? There's room for three more buttons to the right, and memory is peanuts these days.

i dont see why people would go for the tr-06 instead of the behringer clone. like If you want a 606 your not going for a perfect clean drum machine, your going for the character, so why not go for the analog option? and with the extra sounds for each drum, if you can just use different samples so it sounds like an 808, whats the point of calling it a 606? Yeah the randomiser and velocity is cool but if your going for that effect then youd go with something like the digitakt or the drumbrute. Nobody wants a machine that looks like a 606 but sounds and acts nothing like it, if your the kind of person who wants a 606, you either have a way of getting those drum sounds with those features and in addition want a gritty lofi analog characterful drum machine, or you dont like the sound of the 808 and 909 and prefer the lofi 606. so at that point why not go for the behringer, its got the individual outputs , its cheaper and its analog. Roland just doesnt listen to the consumers anymore. People dont want VSTs in a box, we want analog. At least with the 6S they are trying something "new", but nobody ever looked at the 606 and said "yeah this is cool but i wish it was digital". The only people who would by this are the boomers who are "too good for behringer cause roland are the best"

I think you are wrong though. I used to diss the Boutique range, but the TR08 and TR09 are hugely usable. I think that the Boutique range fits perfectly hybrid workflows : people that are inbetween the computer and hardware sound sources. At least this is why I will always favour them to what Behringer does right now. The big big (really big) advantage of the Roland range over Uli's is the MIDI IMPLEMENTATION !!! Big deal for recall, and certain type of workflow. Then the Roland sound is also SPOT ON : don't get fooled by the size, the "digital is bad" and the naysayers : the sound is right there. Erol Alkan uses them, I mean... If it's good enough for the boss of Phantasy label, it's good enough for most people ! Just run it thru a coloured preamp, or a soft saturation if you want more mojo, but as is, it's usable. If you record the TR 08, zoom in the waveform, you'll realize that each drum hit is different : ACB emulates the variation you get with an analog machine. Again don't get fooled, the audio coming out of the Boutique range is spot on... To each their own. I know that I'll get the TR 06 at some point (when the price will lower), or maybe the TT606 by Cyclone. As long as it has full MIDI implementaiton I'll be fine, analog or ACB. I'd go with the Behringer range if it has a serious MIDI (I'm not againt Behringer at all), but MIDI is what works for me.

What a load of nonsense this post is. The point of any instrument is to enable the user to make music and to sound good while doing so. The 06 obviously excels in both of those areas. Yes it’s digital, but those extra features on the Roland box are going to help me create a better track almost every time. The tone is also bang on, so I couldn’t care less about it not being analog. If it sounds like a 606 it sounds like a 606. Feels pretty daft to make an issue out of that purely on principle. Oh and if caring about ethics, intellectual theft or exploitation are “boomer traits” then call me Chuck Shumer because I guess I’m a boomer (I’m not actually but you get the point). Moving on.
