i wrote roland and got the canned response to end all canned responses. lol my question is: is there anyway to do a full system wide wipe of the entire memory in one button press? or a few button presses. it would be nice to be able to like hold a button, press another button, and have all the patterns, fills, intros, rhythms, songs, everything top to bottom erase. i can't seem to find this though. :-/ is such a setting available?

TG Leviathan yeah. It'd be nice if after doing a full composition or several, could just pull a Jurassic park and wipe the thing and start over. Instead of having to hit clear for every pattern and every track :(

This is great, can I ask how you do it? I’m trying to find instructions to set up multiple outs with ableton but with no luck...

+jonnydanger911 first you have to install the tr-08 driver.. then you can choose the tr-08 as audio-input Interface - you'll have 12 channels.. 1/2 is a stereo-channel with the mix-in. Channel 3 to 12 are mono with the separated sounds (3 is the kick, 4 the snare and so on)

hi, I had the drumbrute for a couple of weeks and I definitely prefer the TR-08 / TR-09 drummachines. you can use them perfectly in ableton, you can sync modular gear to the trigger-out... and the sound is very good. when you use the drumdrute you have to a lot with compression and EQ to get a good kick-sound

Late reply.. is like comparing a very good fast luxury fulll extras audi (drumbrute)but then someone comes and gives you the keys to a new Ferrari... (tr08) Thats the difference

Another thing, apart from TR machines. You surely made some experiences with cables, MIDI, jack CV etc. Do you have a favorite labor or manufacturer? What is important to use it a very long time and to get a high quality sound? (affiliate links appreciated!)

I can only record in separate audio channels if i'm using the TR-08 as my main audio device. If i change to my scarlett, that is what i really want, it doesn't make any sound at all unless i plug it from the output to one of the inputs via jack, but then i only receive the whole mix as it's normal. Am i doing anything wrong?

Not sure, but I fear you do nothing wrong. Got the same problem with my Ju-06: I can use that internal soundcard functionality to get the audio signal directly into ableton, but then my main audio device is blocked, meaning, I can ONLY hear the Boutique. This makes no sense. Or at least it does not reflect the way musicans work - recording and hearing all instruments only seperately. Maybe it is a problem of Ableton and other DAWs allow mutiple instances, but am starting to think that it is just a misconception....and wonder that no gear reviewer mentioned it. What is your experience, riamiwo? Was anyone able to insert sound via USB with more than 1 Boutique in parallel???

If you're using a mac you can aggregate the boutiques together with a usb or thunderbolt interface (like a motu i/o) in the midi utility. It'll show up in the ableton core audio as an audio input and output. When you select it, all boutiques and other non-usb connected synths (through thunderbolt i/o) are seletable to use as audio. This doesn't have noise while connected through USB like the ju06 correct? I have to run midi through my ju06 to get a clean sound and I want to get this to jam with my Juno but want to make sure I can make use of the separate outputs via USB and not suffer quality.

riamiwovideos in all honesty I just use a pretty basic one I got for like 7 bucks, or maybe it was like 20. I don't remember but it was pretty basic.

no noise when commected to usb hub,BUT there is noise when you put a split stereo cable from main out,while powering ot from a hub.

Yes:) Well, the sounds are very different.. the toms/conga of the TR-08 I like much more. The kick is softer than the kick of the TR-09. And the composing of a pattern is cool with the TAP-Button.. but the best improvement is the 12Out-Audiointerface.. One stereo main-out, where you can route the sounds you like (or use is for the mix-in) an 10 single-outs for each sound.. that's very cool while working with ableton

yes, there is a stereo-channel and 10 mono outs (for each instrument) - the TR-09 has one stereo-channel for the mix and 4 stereo-channels, where you can route the instruments. with the panning you can use them also as mono-outs, but it's way easier with the TR08

Small question; I see the 12 outputs, but how do i route so that i record what is coming in on mix-in? doesnt it record the sum of all mono-channels aswel? I have a volca hooked up to the mix0in, and want to record that on a separate track, whilst recording the 10 other TR 08 channels at the same time!

The drumsounds are routed to channel 3-12, the channel 1/2 gives the mix-in and the sum of the drums - but the sounds you want to have in this sum you first have to choose in the settings

I think the MFB 522 is a better buy. With the TR-08, I think they did a good job emulating the cymbals/hihats, the clap sounds pretty good, the cowbell and maraca are ok (who even uses the 808 maraca anyways) the snare is meh (it sounds ok at times, but just doesn't have the punch and metallic resonance of a real 808 snare, which becomes audible in a mix), the rim is a joke (it's barely audible and doesn't cut through the mix like the 808 rim does, it sounds hollow or something) the bass drum and toms/congas sound horrible. I would recommend an MFB-522 over the TR-08- for the same price it's pure analog, the bass drum is booming, and both it and the snare sound very much like an 808.
