Guy, gals no better than this. Great action and great tutorial on pitching and flipping jigs! Great fisherman, I've noticed and been envious of the balance this man has and of course Scott too. I've seen Scott fish off the outboard motor and way up on the trolling motor mount. Roland is older , yet still stands and balances himself well while also working the trolling motor. Guys like me have to sit down or at minimum back up against the butt seat. Thanks again Roland, another great one!!!

There aren't any crayfish in my lake and crawdad jig trailers don't get many bites, but a simple 4" to 6" Yum Dinger jig trailer works great and catches big bass. Black/Blue and Elder's Magic colors seem to work best for me. Roland's line watching tip yielded my PB. Was fishing a jig and the line twitched sideways.

Do yourself a favor everyone....learn to pitch and flip while holding your rod in your left hand....it may seem trivial but if you pitch and flip for hours think of how many times you will move your rod from hand to hand....500? 700 times? I'm constantly amazed that Pro Angles do this despite spending a bazillion hours on tackle, electronics, rods, reels....etc
@RolandMartinOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I've tried that but I just can't do it well
@aarondavis82244 жыл бұрын
Hey Roland, quick question. I was given a rod as a gift that Ive been using for pitching its thick and stiff like a broom stick, on the rod it says its a medium heavy but it takes 14-40 lb line, it doesnt give a lure weight rating on it but its thicker and stiffer than any other MH rod I own. It seems to be a heavy to me, is this a good rod to use for this purpose?
@aboveaveragebayleaf92164 жыл бұрын
I would recommend looking up the difference between rod power, and action. It is probably a medium heavy power, with a fast action. Meaning more of the rod is stiff, but not necessarily meaning the stiff parts are as strong as a heavy. By the sounds of it, the rod would probably work well for flipping, pitching, and frogging.

Mr Roland can you get away with using 40 or 50 lb braid when flipping and pitching in timber?
