Sal m For sure. Most countries have different accents. The ones I heard from South Africa like Demi, Tamaryn, Dr. Susan David and hers sound sophisticated to me though. I heard South African stand up comedian, Urzila Carson say South African accent is the unsexiest accent though; So, maybe people from SA don’t see their accent as pleasant sounding? Idk if that’s the case for the majority of people from SA.

5:03 I struggled to articulate myself in English in front of many people.Ever since i messed up in High School Orals,representing my school in the regionals.That "Boo-boo" you mentioned i heard that although people weren't exactly booing.I had an immense fear of speaking and at times it made me seem as though I am not Intelligent enough.It's only now that i have managed to overcome it and it feels amazing.

I REALLY LIKED HOW YOU ADDRESSED YOUR FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING WHICH HAS HAPPENED TO OUR LAST MISS JAMAICA, EMILY MADDISON, A YOUNG 18 YEAR OLD GIRL REPRESENTING JAMAICA AT THE RECENTLY CONCLUDED MISS UNIVERSE COMPETITION!!! I AM WANT THE PUBLIC WATCHING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENS TO THE LADIES BEHIND THE SCENES IN THESE PAGEANTS AND THE ISSUES AFFECTING THEM AND TO REALISE THAT WHEN GIRLS FREEZE ON STAGE BECAUSE OF FEAR BECAUSE OF WHATEVER ISSUES HAPPENING IN THEIR MINDS SUCH AS NOT BEING COMFORTABLE WITH ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE, THAT THIS DOESN'T MEAN, YOU AREN'T BRIGHT LADIES IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS IN YOUR PERSONAL LIVES !!!!

Sounds like the Miss SA organisation should buck up on their support to younger winners. I’m also disappointed to hear that you were expected to act all grown up. Our kids need to see that the Miss SA winner is human, can make language mistakes, put on weight, be silly etc. this perfect picture of a young woman is unrealistic, superficial and unrelated able. Well done for speaking your truth. I suspect this experience will be the stepping stones to a “Be Yourself” campaign one day.

I don''t understand why Afrikaans people should feel shy about talking English with an accent - at least we try, at least we know a second language.
@tshegomabusela66085 жыл бұрын
That's not an achievement black Africans speak many languages including Afrikaans and English. Don't feel shy about your accent but don't think it's an achievement to "try"

Yes no one should feel shy about their accent if they speak a second language. Everyone is most comfortable in their mother tongue. No one said anything about achievements @Tshego Mabusela so don't know why you want to make this about something else. Good for you speaking several languages .
