I must be one of the lucky ones: bought my DeepSea Cameron last year and was fortunate to get another 'wait-listed' model this year and I have the warranty cards for both. There wasn't even any mention of "we're supposed to hold this but ...". However, this year they did remove almost all the stickers whereas last year they only did so after asking if I wanted them to. Since I'm not a flipper this isn't an issue to me. I love my DeepSea but I do agree that's it's not for everyone - no watch is.

I'll stick to the Ginault Ocean Rover. Any company that has revenue in excess of $4.7 billion dollars (2016) and has managed to remain a registered charity is going to have some less than respectable business practices. If I was told I wasn't getting the guarantee card for 12 months after having forked out 💰💰💰💰 there would be a call to the card company to cancel the transaction. Good on you for your honest review and bringing this to people's attention. OUTRAGEOUS as you said.

Great honest review as usual Jody. All that printing on the dial and chapter ring is tacky AF if ya ask me (and I know ya didn't). Good rant about Rolex trade practices. I'd never buy a product from a company that was artificially limiting supply to create scarcity and inflation. And, I'd never buy one, period. I'd rather have an Omega or a Grand Seiko Spring Drive and pocket the difference. Rolex and all the homages are completely lost on me. If only Bond had never worn one... 🤔

Although I have a few caveats, not worth it when you consider you could acquire an Omega PO 600m for 1/5th of the price of this, or for that matter a Rolex Submariner. Plus with the Omega Planet Ocean 600m you get two more tests than with either of the Rolex models. COSC and Metas certified! Look it up! Making the Omega PO a much better watch by far than a Rolex. The Omega is completely anti-magnetic, Rolex can’t claim that!

I think 200 metres resistance is a fine place to set the standard. Anything more than that is becoming unnecessary. The thickness is absolutely mental. That weight is pretty much a quarter of a kilogram! All that aside, it's a goddamn gorgeous piece.

The assumptions that are misinformed are regrettable. 1. The commentator asserts twice that people buy this watch to be noticed with their bigger more expensive Rolex DeepSea. In practice not only is this wrong, the opposite is true. One of the attractional qualities of the 126660 DeepSea is the lack of the iconic Rolex cyclops which throws this watch under the Rolex radar virtually assuring no one outside of a diving school will have any idea what you're wearing. Since August of 2018 I have had one person recognize this watch, and that was before a dive. A Submariner is exceedingly more iconic as a Rolex and would be the clear choice if someone had the goal of being noticed. 2. To call the depth capacity "utterly useless" is utterly useless. The reviewer said he would not have a DeepSea as long as there was one Submariner left on the planet. However, the Submariner's 1,000' capacity is equally useless. If a scuba diver achieved a 1,000' dive, it would take approximately twelve hours back up for the requirements of decompression, and the diver would go through seven or eight tanks during that time, therefore needing an extensive support team and special gas mixtures. So the Submariner is virtually as "useless" in the real world as the DeepSea. So what is the reviewer's real point other than demonstrating he doesn't dive or understand the real-world reasons some seek out over-engineered time pieces.

I'd love to see a state of the collection from Mr. X. Never really been a fan of the 166610, as you said it's just massive. I have a 7 and a half inch wrist and this would be too big for me. The thickness surely means it cannot be worn with anything with a long sleeve. Same problem with the Cameron bt I am in love with it's dial. Great watches to look at, bad watches to wear (I assume having never had the chance to wrist one up). Great T-Shirt by the way!

If you look at the prices the socalled "grey market" dealers demand for the all too often completely new Rolex watches with plastic and stickers, they have for sale and compare it to the AD´s suggested retail prices, you have the explanation for the long waiting lists at AD´s for a new watch. Not only are there waiting lists, but especially for the stainless steel sport Rolex´s, many AD´s also demand that you are a socalled "valued customer" before they will sell you one. "Valued customer" may just mean if you buy one or maybe two DateJusts at the same time as your Submariner or Seadweller. This is thanks to those "smart-asses", who goes to an AD, buys a brand new Rolex sub/dweller/etc or maybe two or more for the suggested retail prices, just to flip it for nearly twice the price at a "grey market" dealer (now THAT my friend, is capitalism !) ............... as a consequence no regular people, that over time may have been able to scrape together the money to buy a new sports Rolex at an AD, cannot do so !! In order to combat the "buy and flip and score the price-difference" Rolex has started to withhold the warranty cards for 12 months making it impossible to instantly flip the watch for a premium. This does in no way inflict the buyers warranty on the watch at all. I for one, as someone who would like to buy a Rolex at the suggested retail price instead of paying double the price at a "grey market" dealer (no matter how reputable they may be) wellcome this wholeheartedly !! Another thing the AD´s could do is to insist that the watch they sell to a customer will have the stickers peeled off and the bracelet sized to the customer, before they leave the shop with the watch ! If it was bought as a gift - give the customer the box and papers and tell them to make the reciepient of the gift come to the shop to have the watch peeled and sized at the shop.
