The YMII is a masterpiece in its movement and really feels worth its price point for how technical and unique. The 10 minute countdown is actually what I use my chronograph for 99% of the time, significantly easier to read than my Daytona was and no annoying screw down pushers. The YMII is a advanced collectors watch that knows what’s inside. The newbie herd mentality that is flocking to the Rolex brand won’t understand the YMII but that’s a huge advantage to those that do know what this watch is all about.

Another terrific video, Tim. Five months ago I walked into a jewelry store expecting to buy a Datejust, with a jubilee bracelet and blue dial. I walked out with the YM1, with the Rhodium dial, on my wrist. I haven’t had a moment’s regret. Love the YM1.

The YM is more beautiful than the YM ll and more functional for an ordinary man like me without a Yacht, neither do I partake in the Queens Royal regatta, the YM is like the more good looking younger brother of the old Sub. Nice one Tim.

I know nobody in the yachting community who has any idea of how to work the Yachtmaster 2. All you need for yachting is good charts, an accurate watch preferably with a rotating bezel, and the right equipment for running repairs. By the time you have worked out how to use the Yachtmaster 2 you are likely to have collided with an oil tanker.

The YMII is undoubtedly the best Rolex ever created. It looks so much better than any other Rolex (also YM) it's just ridiculous to even start a comparison. Too bad many Rolex owners can't see that.

YM II wins it hands down. Exuberant, overwhelming, rich colors, completely useless to everybody not participating in a regatta every other day, but so un-Rolex in appearance. Had the YM red, loved it, sold it and yep it was a stylish piece. Still...

So...I’ve owned both. However my YM 1 was the previous version with the platinum guilt dial, the 16622. Gorgeous piece BUT it was my sexier submariner 16610. The piece felt so similar and besides the bracelet having PCL and SEL, it was nearly the older twin. So...I sell the YM for the YM 2...wow. It’s completely unlike anything in my collection and best part...with no date cyclops, it’s under the radar. OK yes the gloss enamel bezel says ‘YACHT MASTER II’ but...mines on a Rubber B and you’d never know. Hiding in plain giant 44mm sight :)

YM1 for me. The YM2 looks a bit ridiculous to me. Actually, it’s kinda like the word “yacht.” When people say the word “yacht” in a conversation it’s a bit jarring and ostentatious...as is the YM2 on the wrist.

YM One for me. Seems more versatile in any level of dress. The look of the YM ii is a bit hard to take seriously and the 10 min. countdown chrono is too specific. Now if they stripped that blue from the dial and bezel and gave the countdown a chime? I could change my mind 🤔.

YM1 by a mile. YM2 is a bully, useless function, industrial esthetic. Not for me. Original is elegant, with useful function, wrist friendly and just all around much more sexy. However, I give Rolex full credit for starting a new craze with the countdown function, pushing other brands to elevate their innovation and creativity skills.
