"Biggest" is not being used to say it is the "largest" barrel of his career. With 5:35 left on the clock, and the margin being less than 2 goals apart; Thomas's goal stretched the lead enough to seal the victory for the magpies. "Biggest" was being used to say, with the scores being that close and not long left on the clock; for him to kick that goal, it was the most important barrel of his career up until that point.
