Hi Bruce. Fun to see the updated version of this Toy my grandfather made for me when I was a kid over 60 years ago. There was another toy that was a stick with notches cut on the length of on side. On the end was a small length of popsicle stick that was nailed on the end so that it could spin like a propeller. The trick was how you held the stick as you rubbed another stick back and forth on the cut notches to make the propeller spin, then by some magic change of your holding hand you could make it stop then switch direction

Great video. Old fashioned toys are good teachers. I remember making oatmeal cannister roll-backs for my young niece. Today she's a PhD scientist secretly plotting to rule the world. Not bad, eh?
