I loved these 90s futuristic racers like Star Wars Episode I: Racer , Extreme-G, and I really enjoy the downbeat vibe of the PS1/PC racer Motorhead.

Hey, I know you've reviews Grid and both Rollcage games, but can you have a look at the PS1 game Firebugs some time? It's another British first party Sony title by the devs, Attention to Detail and it's almost identical to the Rollcage games, just with three wheeled vehicles and a '90s anime vibe. I've only just stumbled across it, but was it Rollcage 3 at some point?

I spent countless hours playing rolecage stage 2 with my brothers after purchasing it at a garage sale with a ps1. Highly recommend it! As someone who doesn't like racing games, the fast paced high octane gameplay is addicting.

This game really makes you feel like you're driving at 400 kph. I find not a lot of racing games do that for me nowadays. Star Wars Racer does the trick too.

To turn around, just stop the car, turn the wheels and hit the gas. These cars have like a billion horse power. Or if you're in tough terrain, don't panic and don't rush it, just carefully get back on track and then smash the accelerator. If you hate being turned around, play the yellow car (Lenny). It's the strongest, so it resists hits and sticks to the track more easily. You'll still have to master the tracks, and the opponents will still be merciless (especially in the end game in hard), but at least that car gives you a higher chance to keep on track. It's not the fastest (the blue one is), but that doesn't really matter. (EDIT: the yellow car also lands straight more often on jumps.) But if you want a challenge, play the blue car (Tony). It's an amazing car too, as far as I'm concerned. Has like a trillion horse power.

I was a massive fan of this game. I didn't know there's a redux, but damn I will get that. The game is quite hard, but it's also really satisfying once you know the tracks. The end game in hard mode can get frustratingly hard, though. GRIP somehow feels kinda lacking to me. I think it has to do with some of the visual effects not being there, like there's no air beams around the car when you get a boost, and the FOV never changes. All of that, in Rollcage, is what gives you a even higher sense of speed. The game seems alright, but...

Haven't played it in my childhood, but it sure looks hella fun! Reminds me of another futuristic arcade combat racer, 'Bumper Wars' [2001] (which I spent so much time playing back then, I even skipped the school for it, haha). Oh, the nostalgia :))

It's a pity "grip" didn't stick to the form of this game more, it would've been so cool being able to drive on whatever surface you had access too and drive acrobatics around the other cars.

I would be as drastic as Gaming Boomer. I haven't played it, but from watching some videos it feels a bit lacking, and not as challenging. I think my disappointment is in part due to the lack of a lot of the visual feedback that Rollcage has.
