TRUE BUT THE 70'S CHIEFS WERE A GREAT TEAM. AT ONE POINT O'CONNELL WAS THE COACH THERE. ROBERTA MITCHELL WOULD GO ON TO THE ROLLER GAMES AS CAPTAIN OF THE BALTIMORE CATS.

This is Roller Derby at its best! Plenty of action, penalties called, no fights, and not a hint of fakery! If only something like this could reappear today. There are plenty of amateur roller derby leagues out there (and around the world!), and I would imagine that with investors and ample training of the best of these skaters, a viable ROLLER DERBY league could be formed. There would certainly be some cable network out there that would pick something like this up. Well, I can dream, at least!

Unfortunately, I don't think anybody has complete episodes. I have a short clip I can add, but it will take a little work to make it watchable. Check out Roller Derby Mark Roman's channel for a couple of short videos from or near that time period.

I HOPE MR.PRINCE CAN FIND A COPY OF THE FIRST INTERLEAGUE GAME IN 1972 OF THE NY CHIEFS VS. THE NORTHERN HAWKS WITH JOHN PARKER AND BETTY BROWN. THEY UNCOVERED THE PIONEERS VS. THE WESTERN RENEGADES BUT THE HAWKS ONE HAS NOT SHOWED UP. HOW JERRY SELTZER LET THE TAPES BE TAPED OVER ILL NEVER UNDERSTAND BUT I GUESS NO ONE SAW THE VALUE OF THESE ROLLER DERBY GAMES IN YEARS TO COME AND VIDEO WAS EXPENSIVE. MUCH LIKE CAMERA FILM WAS BACK THEN. IF ONLY CELL PHONES HAD BEEN AROUND THEN CAN YOU IMAGINE?

Should be colorized. Young skaters don’t like roller games or ‘73 and beyond Derby. They might relate to this.

This was the 1959 Championship Playoffs Semifinals, while the Chicago Westerners (who would defeat SF for the title in the Championship Final) would defeat the LA Braves in the other Semifinal......
