It’s good to see a model roller instead of a traction engine. Thanks for posting.

nice roller man , I got a 2 inch scale burrell road loco from a museum in Washington dc its got a lot of issues but I'm working them out, I think it was built at a college university by some engineering class

Why does the steam roller and any kind of steam engine need oiling?

Oil allows the metal on metal surfaces to move freely and reducing wear significantly.

How do I prime the mechanical water pump?

A syringe with flexible pipe should do it. May I suggest joining a local Model Engineering group. There will probably be someone who owns a MInnie who will be more help than I can.

How do you set the mechanical water pump to feed water into the boiler?
@DLRTV7 жыл бұрын
There is a valve on the tender floor that can be seen at 3:45. The pump runs when ever the crankshaft is turning. This has a two outputs one to the boiler one to the bypass valve. When the valve is open water is returned to the tank, when closed it is forced into the boiler.

@DLRTV7 жыл бұрын
I use welsh anthracite beans, it gives a nice hot fire and burns very cleanly. You do need a large firebar spacing for plenty of air to make it burn right.

@@mattseymour8637 Welsh steam coal won't work in them due to it expanding as it burns. The roller wont burn it at all, the 4 inch engine will tolerate it but it doesn't like it

My Minnie has started to boil the water in the tender and it overflows out of it with force. Why is it doing this?

The check valve has started feeding back, this is usualy because a bit of dirt has become trapped under the ball.

Leave the bypass open when you start the engine running to let it clear the air and suck water in, after that it should be fine.
