Wow the lights for the Macy’s entrance were still on at 2:00.

This is the first video I seen that shows the Rolling Acre logo removed from the entrance of the building. The mall closed nearly 8 years ago on Oct 31, 2008 when power was cut and it has sat rotting and damaged by vandals every since. In August 2016, the city of Akron has acquired the property and will demolish by the end of the year. JC Penny has sold it's property to Akron as well. The other separate buildings will remain (Target & Sears)

I bet it wasn't the actual owners of the mall (city of Akron) that took the sign off, probably some kids decided to rip it off

The old Macy's and Dillards will remain standing as well. Dillard's operates as "Old Main Storage" which is a private storage company and Macy's is mostly offices (not a ton of info on it but thats what I've been able to gather)

Seems a bit unlikely how would they have been able to pull that off?
@brandonmoretti57748 жыл бұрын
True, and I'll have to drive up there and check it out after they demolish the mall, it'll look weird with just the anchors standing

yeah do it and tell me about it I'd go see myself but I live Utah and don't have the finances to travel out there

Oh wow, they took down the Rolling Acres sign. Also, the former Macy's is privately owned I believe.

It is amazing that people are still able to get inside. Dan Bell or someone said that the mall was now completely fenced off and there were surveillance all around.

This is a modern day archeology site. The whole area near the mall is dead too. A great case study of economics and societal shifts. As jobs were lost and the manufacturing moved overseas, the blight spread like in so many rust belt cities and towns.

Yeesh looks like scrappers read the news, they seriously trashed this damn place. I mean I knew the mall was severely damaged inside and out, but it looks like bundles after bundles of vandals snuck in from mid-September to now and tore the living shit out of the interior. Though through the decay, the one thing that will always haunt me is seeing that JC Penny Outlet Store sign, sitting and simply awaiting to be knocked down. Every single video between 2009 and now has at least that one hint at the mall's former, soon to be gone past. R.I.P Rolling Acres Mall (1975-2008, 2016-2017).

Yea, when we were walking out there were a couple of guys loading tons of strips of metal into their truck. Everything in the main part of the mall has been gone for awhile, now people are going back behind stores to get racks and other metal.
