I’ve rolled with a 20 foot roller and an ih1086 in clover fields to help reduce bumps from a wet and rutty harvest. Always did it at an angle and headlands were last. Usually did 3 passes which was plenty. And just like here, no ability to raise it. If you think about it, the ruts would be terrible if you had to raise it leaving all that weight on a couple little wheels. The roller I used didn’t have wheels on it so it was simple as can be. Always would roll freshly seeded hay fields to push rocks into the ground which is more like what you’re doing here. That was straight up and down with about 5 headland passes to help cover the seeders turn arounds. Then we would go rock picking afterwards. One field was 120 acres that had to be rock picked….. by hand. You do it once after rolling to get the stuff it didn’t push down and then again after first cutting to get what the mower brought up and hit lol.

I do 2 headland passes and then do big skip passes. Hard on the roller to make tight turns. And you can roll as fast as you can stand to go.

Where we live in Canada we do the main part of the field first and turn on the ends and then go around the edges after a few times to make a nice headland

On your grass and clover the rolling to get rid of blue in menu must be done before any growth. There are the rollers for grass fertilization that are different.

We dont roll at all on our farm in Central Illinois. We just watch for rocks when we harvest.

With the roller, I would usually use Courseplay to run the up/down rows and do the headlands myself. Same with any other non harvester task. I find it works best for me.

When I roll beans I like to go around the entire field twice (my dad likes once) and that way it's a little smoother turning around on the ends!

I've done that but it's not much faster. Was thinking if my semi would hold TMR I could make a ton then take it to the barn a semi at a time but I'd have to edit the mod ;-)

I skip rolling on every field. To me it's not worth the time for only 5% and I am already pushing 120 +/- yield bonus. Granted the field by my house has only every been Corn or Soybeans, but they only rolled the soybeans once in the last 10 years.

You can just set the cruise speed at 14mph then the worker won't go above that speed.

Well It's been forever since I have commented on one of your vids. When it comes to rolling you have to roll before the crop get's to it's first growth stage otherwise rolling won't take effect and even using the grass rollers on the alfalfa and clover won't change that, now I highly dislike the typical Giants game idea covers all crops similar to the dumb lime thing( all it does is change the ph of the soil and don't need to be done that often the farm I've worked on for over 10 years now, we have never ever once spread lime okay that's really a different rant) here the only crop that we roll is direct cut edible beans, or soybeans nothing else like Giants has you doing, now there is a mod called NoMoreRolling that corrects the rolling or it can be done in the map by going into the map file and changing the fruitypes XML line where it say's () needs rolling from true to false, this xml is also where you can change yields if a person wanted to. As far as headlands well I believe that's going to be an on going argument depending on what you're doing or where you farm. we always do headlands last when we are doing field work and when I am planting I always do headlands first even with using GPS that way I still have a physical mark knowing where to pickup and set down my planter and in the last 5 years that I've been planting it's never messed up the rows when turning on them but we don't use any tracked tractors either. I also agree with you on the mud etc but I also feel that should be part of weather making a difference on the game. We farmers are known for never being happy with the weather and there's a reason for that, because our crop absolutely depends on the weather, even if you have irrigation , you still need rain, plenty of sun and heat, for heat growing unites,etc, and never want floods, or hail or high winds or early or late frost's! It all makes a difference on the out come of your yields or if you even get a crop to harvest at the end of the year. Also needs to be a variable in the yields when you do everything right which would be easy for them to add now, I'd like to know one farmer that has had the exact same yield every year from year to year? and if there is one I'll call him a bold face lier. Now I know you agree with most of this but just saying you know me and my long winded comments. LOL
