I enjoy them. You gave them a better score than I thought you were. Thank you for reacting to this video.

NIce Review and a solid score. The vocal harmonies are the two guitarists, The bassist, whose name is Arem, doesn't sing - it's actually kind of interesting, as confident as she is with her bass and also she has cultivated something of a badass image, but when they make her talk to the audience at their live shows, she's actually really shy. Whereas Japan has a fairly robust rock scene and all female bands are common, in Korea, Pop is king and the rock scene apparently all but non-existent - supposedly they had one back in the 80s, but for whatever reason it all but died out in the 90s and 00s... Rolling Quartz is apparently one of only a few K-Rock bands currently active period, let alone all female. But they have built a fairly large following on the internet in a relatively short time period so maybe they can kick start a K-Rock revival.

also, Arem doesn't really sing because she is tone deaf

There are several newer k-rock bands active today, but they don't really get the same TV air time and radio play as the pop acts. Most are male bands, so RQ is really the only (to my knowledge) female band that has any kind of popularity now.

Another great reaction, and I'd say that's an entirely fair score. They are a talented group of ladies, been listening to the EP they released recently, I think they show a lot of promise. I agree the guitars sound a bit thin though, just wish they had a little more grunt, but there's lots of room to grow and their cover of Zitti E Buoni is actually better than the original imo. The South Korea rock scene is incredibly small, but there's a handful of bands kicking around that are worth checking out, Messgram and Synsnake in particular. I think it's only a matter of time before their scene starts to blow up. Keep up the good work dude 🤟

Rolling Quartz is a band to keep an eye on. Very fair score. 🤘😎🤘Their recent mini album is pretty good.

I found this band just a few days ago, so naturally I had to see if you had made a review. Very fair review as always. I am not a musician so I know nothing about mixing and the technicalities about making music. Their music to me as an amateur is catchy and has a great sound. I really hope to hear more from them and even see them live in the future.

FYI, Rolling Quartz fans are called Diadem. They have a pretty good cover of Skid Row's "Youth Gone Wild" on their channel.

Ya, that's about right. This is their very first single/video, and it's level of polish doesn't translate the raw energy that this band actually has on stage. They're not the most technical musicians in the world, but the live vocals are a real highlight of their live shows. She's got massive power and presence on stage. They're still coming up, I don't think they've had a legit full audience solo concert yet, so they've got a long way to go, but I think they have a promising future.

Emperor Chop Chop. I love their charm on stage. Jayoung knows how to talk to us. She really seem to love her Fandom (Diadem) and Iree always warms my heart with her happy personality. Just what the world needs right niw!

Enjoyed the reaction as usual. One thing I notice about this song, and a couple of other songs I've seen from them as well, is that both guitarists favor Fender Strats with the SSS pickup configuration. There's, of course, nothing wrong with that. But single coils do tend to have a much brighter, "glassier" tone than Humbuckers most often used for hard rock/heavy metal. They're really more conducive to the blues genre. There's no rule saying you can't use single coils for heavy metal. If there is, somebody needs to tell Yngwie Malmsteen. But I do think it does contribute to the more "brittle" guitar tone.

I like Thobbe Englund's take on Strats in metal. Although if I had one I'd probably go the Dave Murray route and stick some Hot Rails in it.

I think the brighter tone definitely adds to the charm of the band, and it did help shape their over all sound. I personally like thicker, chunkier guitar sounds but theirs wasn't unpleasant.

Those girls are skilled and they make covers that are superb. For example check out their cover of Måneskin's - Zitti E Buoni.

That is a fantastic cover song. They took a really good song and made it great.

i really appreciate your scoring system. the first time i've seen a 5 be average, like it should be.
@THEDavidHeretic2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, but you'd be amazed how many people thing that 7.5 is the average. I guess they're equating it to a 75% like in grade school.

I'm a Madiac! Band Maid Forever! But this band has a legit shot at being the biggest girl band ever! Japanese musicianship. Korean style and music industry. Just released their first album. Check out Azalea. Very good! Great Reaction Brother!😊😎🤘🤘🤘

Now that you've reacted to Rolling Quartz would be a good time to check out Dreamcatcher. They are heavily influenced by Babymetal and other idol rock groups. A mix of rock and sometimes metal with kpop. No More and Deja Vu are my recommendations. For Korean bands I recommend Parannoul, their album "To See the Next Part of the Dream" is one of the best modern shoegaze out there. If you are in any way interested in exploring raw kpop, I would recommend "Wonder Girls", the band's phase (2014 -2017) (yep, they were an idol group that played) was heavily influenced by 80s pop.

I've only heard them once or twice. Not enough to really connect with them. The execution is great, great bass and drums. Guitar and vocals are fine, just not very distinctive. It's great on the technical level, I'd just like a bit more personality. Great reaction!
@Metal_Auditor2 жыл бұрын
I agree with OldSkuleNerd that this band is a lot like Band-Maid was about seven years ago. We'll see if they have a similar growth, or maybe quicker since they've got more examples to follow. I do think that, so far, they're nothing special as far as rock is concerned. For something really interesting and Korean I echo those who have recommended Dreamcatcher, particularly their song "Piri." I'm still not a K-Pop fan, but Dreamcatcher is something special.
@OlettaLiano2 жыл бұрын
I'd rate them as Okay. Nice vocals, and I like the bass tone, but the guitar lead sucked. They're the kind of band where I wouldn't run out to buy their new album, but if someone was playing it I'd listen to them. In Regards to Fender basses, if they made a 6-sting who could lift it? My LTD D-6 is heavy enough for me. LOL
