This is wild, I happened to be walking by on the trail while this was being filmed. I didn't know who it was. Then became a Deer Tick fan and stumbled on to this video. Wish I would have hung around to watch! Very cool!

@@laurakayne If you're referring to who the original artist was, it was the Stones, specifically it was written by Mick and Keith. Townes' rendition is a cover. Both versions are great in their own way.

a nice cover of one of my favorite stones songs with some "extra" chords in a nod to townes van zandt
@ernestounionista886 Жыл бұрын
First, I just love this song. I loved the Stones version. Until this cover came along, I thought the best version was from Steve Earl. I have listened to every cover I could find. It took a guy with a guitar, sitting on a rock to make it his own. This is my favorite now. I can't imagine it ever being better than this.

This is a song written by Jagger & Richards and the studio version is on the album Sticky Fingers. Townes Van Zandt covered the song and made major changes to the song.This version is a cover of the Van Zandt version.So it's a cover of a cover.
@gagebryers462210 жыл бұрын
I learned this song years ago from the album and it sounds just like this version pretty much... like to call it a cover of a cover is to over think it bit.
@gagebryers462210 жыл бұрын
No they wrote it. But I've seen the song preformed by many different bands live. Once at the Oregon Country Fair. My point is it's been around since 71' and Sticky Fingers was one of the Stones biggest Albums what with Brown sugar, Moonlight mile, Sister Morphine and of course Can't you hear me knocking. The Andy Warhol photo as the cover art is another one of its most notable features as possibly one of the stones most stand apart albums. Miranda Lambert wrote a song called dead flowers in 2009.

AshtrayAnnie It's a long venerable tradition, stealing other peoples songs.
@matt74moses10 жыл бұрын
AshtrayAnnie It's very possible that another band may have wrote it first. Stealing other peoples songs,riffs,lyrics used to happen a lot back then because it was a bit harder to track the original source. You can't really get away with that in this day and age.
