Thanks for the fun review & comparision of both SZ cars.You are both well suited to each brand & your reviews are enjoyable & will hopefully interest younger potential owners in the Marques. I'm 76 & have always owned older model depreciated Bentley's & Rolls Royces since 1976. Had 13 in 46 years of continuous ownership including 3 Turbo RL's & 3 Silver Spurs. I'm more of a Bentley fan due mostly to better handling & power & firmer more supportive sports seats. Great cars & are always a special occasion to drive . I don't daily drive them & am retired. Pre 1990 models or 20000 series 1987-89 are the least expensive to maintain. No active ride,& a lot less electronics to play up.Currently have an 89 Turbo RL & a 58 Silver Cloud. I live in Calgary Alberta Canada. Happy Wafting : ) . Remember you drive a Bentley & arrive in a Rolls-Royce. I have no interest in VW Bentleys or BMW Rolls-Royces.

You should get many many more clicks, this is excellently made and lots of fun to watch. I always wanted to test a Silver Spirit, I come from the Shadow camp. It is a wonderful smooth ride - if everything is perfect with the drivetrain and the engine. Of course, it is wallowy, but that's what it is all about.

Great video guys! Fortunately I've not driven in traffic much in my Turbo R but I get the same feeling Greg did in the Silver Spirit, it's so easy to just go with the flow and not worry about it at all. Hope the charging problem gets sorted in the Silver Spirit and isn't too costly!

Thanks - so far so good on the Rolls - it was an undersized alternator - in the first year or two, they used Shadow alternators and they werent up to the job with the extra electrics, so fitted a latter 83/84 model year unit and it seems to be fine now!

Always loved that stretch of the A444 from the A5 to A42. Loved the video, two great machines, hard to choose. i think it will have to be the Bentley, you can't have too much analogue instrumentation and the extra power is nice should you want it.

That extra power does always come in handy! haha

Ma786sai Dua nicely put together. Just acquired a lovely 1982 Spirit and shall cherish her happily-ever-after, to the end. An absolutely remarkable marque. Velvet on velvet. The massive 2.4 ton mass of a monolith, just shrinks around you as you float, glide, waft.

Wipers are faulty in tge bentley.they should park at the bottom of tge screen on intermittent just like the spirits.
@automotivetales2 жыл бұрын
That was my thinking but when you turn them off intermittent they park back at the bottom again… it’s really odd!

The wipers in the Turbo R have a fault. They should not pause vertically like that on the screen for the intermittent wipe cycle. They should pause correctly at scuttle level. Your wiper ECU has a fault.

I think the age gap between the two is too great to compare, other than the essence of each. For me the RR wins, because of their success there are just too many (VW) Bentleys on the road.

the age gap is huge, but I guess that's part of the facination. They ran this chassis design for so so long, that is still the same car underneath despite 15 years in time. It's hard to image a car design going 15 years today without a complete redesign! I definately think there was a strong convergence at this point and the two brands under BMW and VW ownership have diverged very quickly, with RR light years ahead. While a modern VW Bentley is a lovely thing, the modern BMW RR is something else!
