We too left and drove up into GA. We’re 40 miles north of Orlando for the winter, and aren’t used to hurricanes, especially one Milton’s size. Better to be safe than sorry. Smart.

Stella's curls are the cutest!!! That alarm at the restaurant... We had something similar in Ft Lauderdale a couple weeks ago. 7th floor room in a hotel, fire alarm went off at 2am. That time everyone stayed in the rooms. And then it went off again an hour later. So we hiked down the stairs and were outside about a half hour until the fire department cleared it. It was a malfunction only thank goodness. But a rough night for sure!!

Omg how frustrating! Especially in the middle of the night. Charisma and I always think twice before getting out of bed in a hotel when the fire alarm goes off since it’s so involved getting in my chair and 99/100 times it’s a false alarm 😅

Some hotels really are trying to be more accommodating, SOME, the cost to renovate rooms would easily be made up for by having them available. I can't be stepping over tubs but I can if I have to but I would feel bad if someone less able than me needed a walk/roll in. I might leave a note with the desk to give it up for someone less abled but that's just me. Stella is so laid back riding with Uncle Cole, it's adorable to see that & her curls, Cole's too!! I really like the curly look Cole. Getting family time is the best, mine is so scattered it's a rare thing to go visit. Better to cut your trip short & be safe. If you get the copy of Charisma's brother scooping sand with a measuring cup, share it! A little humor after the storms might do them good. It would me.

Good idea that you left early. I live in Orlando. It was a very loud and mean wind. 17 people were killed. There were also tornadoes. You were probably in the safest place staying at the Marriott. I love your channel.🩷

Wheelchair tip: It's certainly not ideal, but if you expand your lap belt so that it wraps around both of you that could give you a little sense of security. It may be a little easier to do if your belt goes around your waist/hips rather than across your legs though.

You are absolutely right. The hotels do need to do better. They know what they are doing when they mislead you. It’s part of their ploy, they just don’t care if their guests are inconvenienced. Money is all that matters. That’s right, keep demanding what you were promised. Then they charge your card. Do they need to come under new management? But it’s not only that hotel, good help is simply hard to find. Sorry about your experience.

I just stayed at a 500.00 a night resort in Arizona and it was supposed to be wheelchair accessible and I couldn’t see the bathroom due to the way the doors weee in the bathroom, I couldn’t turn into it and it was too narrow for a standard wheelchair or walker. I posted a complaint on multiple websites with photos and complained to the resort and they did nothing! My husbands work paid for it but still! I was there for multiple days and risked falling due to having to walk. Cole doesn’t have that option!

I was in NC last year and they gave me a HA room because some softball tournament was happening. I felt horrible. I told them if someone needed that room I’d be happy to change rooms if one became available or switch hotels if need be. I feel like they really shouldn’t be able to reserve those rooms for able bodied people, but it’s all about the bottom line I guess.
