All hell broke loose when Tim was allowed to go to the store.. you broke a dish, Willow had a crisis bc of a Christmas tree twice her size in her bed, Max went full rebel and said ‘Nah, I think I’ll eat this treat on the couch’.. and that lard, my god.. that is the gift that keeps on giving. My grandmother used to use a little lard on a cloth and polish her kitchen cabinets and wood furniture. It also works on leather- looks like you’ve got enough to last awhile 😅

Here in Texas that is Chicken and Dumplings (pronounced 'dumplins). I learned to make them from my Mamaw. She would boil a whole bird and then use the rendered chicken fat to make the dumplins.

Ohio here. And around here no matter shape or size, it's chicken and dumplings. Chicken and pastry is like a hand pie. And chicken pot pie has either a top crust only. Or top and bottom crust. Whatever ya cooked looked delicious! So I don't think it matters what it's called.😉👍

Chicken and dumplings. If you want the fluffy version, drop large spoonfuls into slow boiling chicken and broth. If you want the smaller, more compact ones, "slickers', roll them out, cut into squares and drop into boiling broth and chicken after adding milk to the broth and chicken mixture. Have to say slickers are my favorite.

I grew up in a small town near the North Carolina coast and my family always called it chicken and pastry. If they said we were having dumplings, then it was corn meal dumplings on top of cooked greens or cabbage.

My mom made chicken and dumplings quite often, they were a big hit. We always had mashed potatoes with them, had to have something to soak up the gravy. It’s a great comfort meal. We always call them dumplings but would have cut those long strips in half. When you said chicken and pastry I thought some kind of chicken pot pie. Never occurred to me it was dumplings. It looked delicious. Anytime I see Rolos I think of my mom. When I came to care for her late 80s I always kept a bowl full on the coffee table for her. She loved her rolos. They are too sweet to me but with the crackers maybe.

Hi Valerie!! I just realized that is exactly how I make my cranberry sauce!! Minus the apples and just using a few orange slices and add one cup of white sugar. I let it simmer on low until the cranberries pop and most of the liquid has evaporated. I remove the orange slices and voila! Homemade Cranberry Sauce!! You should try it! It’s super easy and way better than the canned version I am baking everyday at the moment. I like to bake for the crew at my husbands work up to when they go home for Christmas. I am on Day 3. It’s good because I bake for us at the same time. They love it and it makes me happy to do it with them all working away from home. Your chicken and pastry looks amazing!! You know I’m going to be making that for my husband and kids now too! LOL My word!! When Tim gave the pups their treats I just about broke my face from smiling so hard!! Hahahahahaha! They are such lucky puppies❤ Good grocery haul Tim 😂 I have to run but I love you guys! Stay Happy, Healthy and Blessed ✨

Those crackers with the rolo looks good, I make a different version but very similar to the ones you make.. I call them chicken and noodles.. dumplings are usually round and light.. I've never heard anyone call them chicken and pastry.. when I make my homemade noodles and dumplings it's determined by which flour I use.. all purpose is noodles and dumplings is used self rising.. I grew up calling it chicken and pastry for the same reason you gave. Our strips, though smaller, they were thin strips of dough. I definitely enjoy the house of Autry brand! I've never heard of the Ritz cracker and Rolo candy; I've only heard of using peanut butter in between the crackers; then dipped in white chocolate then set in the refrigerator to chill. I'll have to try what you made. The fur babies are a delight to watch. Ann's dumplings/pastry strips are very good as well; they didn't have these when we lived in Vermont. Glad I stayed awake. The old fashion way to make chicken and dumplings is to cook a whole chicken Take the chicken out of the pot.Then cool a cup of the broth and add enough flour till you can't add no more flour.Roll them out and cut them Boil them for about 10 minutes.This is the way my mother inlaw taught me 58 years ago.My mother fixed them the same way.
