This is just a big win for us home enthusiasts who want a great reel mower that’s easy to use and maintain. Thanks for the video

I have had the revolution 26 and I love it! But also very interested in the California trimmer catalyst.

Fantastic video mate, love getting your take on the two! The Rolux x25 is very similar to the Scott Bonnar 45 that we have here in Australia. Built in the 1960-1990s. There's a huge community restoring them to brand new, with ample new aftermarket parts available. Just thought i'd share that, so you could see the similarities.

competition in the market is healthy..I love that finally there are choices for the HOMEOWNER. I am kinda bias seeing as I have a rolux x20 and loving it. Rolux's customer service is outstanding as well. The handle bars took me about 2 mows in to get comfortable and I was delighted to find I could control it much better around my curves and elevations. The clutch lever is quite nice as well as I can feather it quite well..it reminds me of riding a bicycle in my younger days.

Thanks for the review. This will be my first gas powered reel mower. I’ve been using Scott’s manual reel. I am leaning towards the Revolution 26 simply because of the folding handle. I have limited garage space. Both units look great though.

Thanks for the fair review of both. Rolux is the winner for me. I actually like the spin grind and thicker blade design for the average yard. And with the low cut bed knife option, you can get down to 2mm if you should ever want too. Less plastic is a plus for me also. But I do think Masport builds good products and would not be a bad choice if that’s what someone likes. Both are great options compare to the other choices that have been available in the past.

California Trimmer Catalyst has interchangeable cartridges which means versatility and saves space! I’m about to pull the trigger for next year on it unless Rolux or Rev26 introduce cartridges.

If money was a non issue, the 1026. The quality of cut is unmatched but you’re talking about a professional machine that works best on golf courses with plenty of open space. For homeowners with stone landscape edging and such and affordable, my money is on the Rev 26. I don’t know what your situation looks like tbh to tell you but both are good. I hear reel rollers has something of a network on their website where it can tell you where to service the Rev 26.

Waiting on my Rolux 20” Honda 9 blade with the grooved roller. Should be here Monday or Tuesday I’m hoping. I’ve been using a Fiskars reel push mower as this year is my first year into reel mowing and I’m loving it.

Have a Swardman, love it when it works. Have had several issues with it, cables snapping, seems the motor is underpowered and often the blades get hung up and stop. I bought it for the attachment variation, that aspect is fantastic! Love the groomer and broomer for leveling with sand. Can’t wait to see where the industry goes next

As much as I love you posting a comparison video, I was hoping for a bit more insight as to which mower or features you preferred. I know they are both great, though. I ended up ordering a RR Rev26 just yesterday so I'm hoping for the best! My first reel so not much I'll be able to compare it to other than my trusty Honda rotary.

Thanks for the solid comparison video. So I’m looking at picking up the Rolux 20 inch. Are you still in favor of that mower? I have about 800 square-foot Putting green that I’ve been mowing with the Hudson reel mower and it just can’t really get the job done without me exerting a ton of energy

Great video! How about the cut quality with the nine blade versus the six blade at similar heights? Was hoping to see that a little bit.
@TheLawnDad4 ай бұрын
Tough to compare a 6 and a 9 for fairness sake to both companies. That also depends on HOC as well. RR has a 10 blade coming out soon- I would then feel comfortable getting down to cut quality in both since it would be apples to apples! 9 is better for maintaining around .5-.75”. 6 blade is better for .6”+. In that .6-.75” range you wouldn’t be able to tell difference between these 2 mowers cut quality. Both are stellar!

Both great equipment and amazing prices…. Rolux needs to go sealed ball bearings…. Reel Rollers needs to add a seal to the chain cover to prevent grass entering the chain area….

Great comparison between the two. How does the Rolux compare to cutting tight edges? I have a 3” gap on my sloped front I’m struggling with the Rev. It’s a beast. Both seem like great reels. Backslapping is so simple for each in comparison to other models
@TheLawnDad4 ай бұрын
Have you tried rotary scissors on sections missed? Unfortunately both will have some missed spots in tight areas since the edge of the reel is offset from the frame almost identically

How easy is it to adjust the handle height on the two mowers? I have a zoysia lawn that I cut at 1.5 inches. My McLane 25 handle is lowered as the cutting height is raised and can't be adjusted. My back is usually sore after mowing from stooping slightly to grab the handle so handle height adjustment is important to me. Great video - thanks for the comparison!

Would it be possible to do a quick video/short of spinning the reel on the Rev26? I just got mine and have seen some comments from a lot of folks saying the reel should barely be making contact with the bedknife but mine seems to be grinding on it a bit. I thought this was something that RR would have adjusted before shipping it out so I just wanted to make sure. Would like to get the most longevity out of it as possible.

I know nothing about these mowers . Where are they used? What kind of grasses are the good for ? Saint Augustine? ? I have 2 grounds keepers they have 2 kubota tractors 2 scag stand on mowers . Similar size these 2 you have is a Farris walk behind and 2 Honda HRC mowers . They maintain 1800 acres for me in Ocala Florida. They are amazing. Around my houses and garages and barns we have Saint Augustine. The rest of the property has fields of coastal , bahia , and some mixes to give the animals variety . In the fall the coastal goes dormant 1st and they use a spreader and disperse winter rye. A bit later the Bahia goes dormant then they spread the rye there.its a very bright bold green that is beautiful in the winter when everything seems to turn brown and some of the trees lose their leaves . When the spring comes and the weather warms the rye seems to die back which is good for the soil . It’s amazing to watch them work and maintain my home .
