ROMA - Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in 4K

La Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore è una delle quattro basiliche papali di Roma e si trova vicino alla stazione Termini.
La Basilica, comprese le scalinate esterne, costituisce area extraterritoriale a favore della Santa Sede.
Il campanile romanico è alto 75 metri ed il più alto di Roma.
Non tutti sanno che nella Basilica è sepolto Gian Lorenzo Bernini, nella tomba posta su un gradino dell'altare maggiore.

A wonderfully nostalgic presentation, Massimo. After St. Peter's, this was my favourite Basilica to visit, over and over again, in the 1980s. What great memories your superior filming now brings back. Cameras over 30 years ago, now seem so inferior!! I immensely appreciate the valuable records you are producing for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks for the upload. For me, one of the most beautiful buildings in Rome. Far superior to St. Peter’s which is unfortunately excessively decorated. I was lucky to visit the church late afternoon in Winter, very few visitors and it was magic.

Would you expect this level of crowds on St Stephen's Day in 2021(which falls on a Sunday)? I'm planning a Rome itinerary and that's the day I was hoping to see some churches such as Santa Prassede, San Pietro in Vincoli, San Giovanni in Laterano, as well as Santa Maria Maggiore.

Hi I went there a month aga and there was little crowd. Still Rome doesn t get so many tourists as before. Even to enter Saint Peter there was almost nobody in queue!!
