In my opinion this is the best version of MacBeth I have seen, with the Welles restored version second and Kurosawa's third. Its very well directed and although FInch does not really fulfill the role, he knows how to speak iambic pentameter. Its beautifully photographed by GIl Taylor, a very underrated cameraman, and Martin Shaw is the best Banquo I have seen. The use of the witches was brilliant.

The best version of MacBeth I have seen. Polanski wanted Glenda Jackson as Lady Mabeth, but she said the schedule was too long and he would not pay her enough money. She would have made a real difference.
