It's the tone of voice that's radically improved since this promo for me. With his current character as the Head of the Table, I feel his vocals being more grunted and lower help him sound sharper, and it really works. Here his vocals have a higher tone like he's trying to sound cool, and it just feels off to me. They really miscast him for years. Like I feel him being a face would have started out fine if they presented him to care more about The Shield ending, but he really comes off as such a natural heel to the point where I don't see how he becomes a face again.

You are right. What I noticed in his promos nowadays is that he can rely with confidence on his ability to improvise if needed. In the beginning it always felt like he was reading of a script. Yea Rock was definitely the fastest rising superstar I think in any form of entertainment honestly, the rock just had that IT factor off rip and knew what to do with it, Roman was always kinda seen with the IT factor It just took him time to figure out what to do with it.
