It's amazing to see something so different from Ewan McGregors usual. From the movies I've seen hes usually the good guy of the movie or the main character. But I've never seen him play a villian and he is just outstanding as Black Mask. He plays the character so well and its incredible how talented Ewan truly is. Get this man an Oscar.

Ewan has always been an amazing actor but I loved the way he portrayed black mask. It was so unexpected as black mask is the typical mafia type tough guy but ewan made him more eccentric and narcissistic. His “kay” was so good lol

Just watch the movie if you haven't already. His presence is charismatic, sinister, threatening, unhinged, sometimes he comes off as quite pathetic, to the point of ludicrous almost, parts of him are even quite tragic - his intense mood swings between suave and choleric, in manipulative control and snowflakeily butthurt are something to watch, but at no point you would want to cross him. He is pure evil and then some, a sadist if there ever was one. The way he manipulates a terrifying, animalistic force of nature with a torture/kill-addiction such as Zsasz into being commanded by him like a dog is mesmerising and chilling. Great love/hate, almost s/m dynamics.

It is an unreliable tall-tale told/commented by Harley Quinn whose point-of-view is clearly bi-polar and psychotic, and her attempt to show herself as an unfazed, cool trickster with a heart while being a selfish, unhinged bitch is just hilarious. The chaotically convoluted but fast-paced way in which she unravels (or rather entangles?) the plot, the over-the-top yet breathtaking action choreographies that are wrapped in it, the ostentatiously light-hearted yet offhand sarcastic tone of her narration, the sudden tonal shifts in how her story is actually illustrated/told on the screen - all of this turns the movie into a chaotic, intense experience, a bewildering ride across the ultraviolent ups and downs of Gotham City's criminal underworld.

Kenobi is definitely his most famous role, but probably my favorite character of his is Catcher Block from Down With Love - both a pastiche and satire of the 1960s. But he's had so many underrated roles - Phillip Morris in I Love You, Phillip Morris, Oliver in Beginners, Ed Bloom in Big Fish, Joe Taylor in Young Adam (probably the most dramatic and intense role of his to date), and Curt Wild in Velvet Goldmine (made hilarious because he and Christian Bale were in it together before their major roles. And of course, how is everyone forgetting about Christian in Moulin Rouge?!
