My name is Roman Skrypin. I am a Ukrainian journalist and I would like to send an important message to KZbin.
Recent policies that removed monetization from us a few days ago require that I address the platform. Before doing so, I want to thank everyone on Patreon. For those who wish to continue sending donations directly, payment details are in the description. The main thing now is to help the army and each other in order to save lives.
Creators worldwide are now addressing the Ukrainian people, and I will explain why there’s a need for us to address KZbin.
KZbin initially deprived us of monetization. Then we received a message that our channel could get terminated due to alleged violations of KZbin policies. This is one of the main reasons we have a backup UMN channel, in case the main one is suddenly terminated. Our channel has over 350K subscribers, so we need a backup and have already live streamed from it.
Dear KZbin! I've been a long-time fan of yours. Though I've often been surprised by constantly changing rules for monetization, content, and copyright. As the world is aware, this war is not only Russia against Ukraine. This is a war supported by the blind Russian society and led by their mad "president" that is not only against Ukraine but against Western civilization. If you don't realize it yet, wait - one day soon a drunken Russian Ivan, covered in dirt and blood, will come and knock on your door.
We would like to ask you to mercifully return monetization and not ban Ukrainian channels that do not conduct propaganda but are in the DEFENSE of this war. Our channel is an information front for us. We are at the forefront!
Russia is killing people in Ukraine and we are a reliable source of INFORMATION on KZbin.
In fact, I have a very special and long story with you. Do you remember the HROMADSKE.TV project? When we joined the Internet Rights Agency (AIR), which is an authorized KZbin partner, I told AIR that we wanted to broadcast on KZbin. They looked at me like we were crazy and said it was impossible. But it turned out to be possible! Prior to that, Madonna broadcasted a concert via KZbin. But when we just started broadcasting Public TV on KZbin we had a lot of issues with bans and strikes. But thanks to the AIR team's efforts, we managed to deal with all of them.
To KZbin's surprise, we got a silver button very quickly. And the AIR management was surprised when it became clear that live broadcast via KZbin is possible! Public TV then set a world record for the duration of a live broadcast on KZbin. This was significant for the progress and development of KZbin itself. We ask that you please keep this in mind.
I'm not asking you for buttons - gold, silver, or diamond. I like your analytics, I like the platform itself, but please do not complicate the lives of those trying to defend the lives of their fellow citizens during this vicious war.
We are not propaganda, we are not "russia today", which you chose not to shut down for a long time. We are not margarita simonyan if that name tells you anything. We are not a propaganda source. We are funded by KZbin monetization, which you provide and which you have deprived us of for reasons known only to you. We are funded by our AUDIENCE and their donations. By the way, you have not yet introduced Superchat and Sponsorship and other services for the people of Ukraine, which is strange. We could really use this, just like other KZbinrs in Ukraine.
Note also that you yourselves are also now deprived of huge opportunities for blogging and production in general because of the aggressor, as KZbin has now been banned in russia.
We live in a free world. We are part of the European civilization, the Euro-Atlantic civilization. So please, dear KZbin, stop fooling us and give us back our monetization. Thanks!
