I still remember clearly the first time i found One Ok Rock. Literally, no one introduce me to OOR. Suddenly, one of their live performances "Wherever You Are" showed up on my instagram's reels, it was a fan account. Taka's soft voice and their connection with the crowd while singing together is really beautiful. Of course i want to see the full videos, i found it in yt "Sylvia Liu" channel. I couldn't help myself to watch their other live performances. And yess, on the exact same day and few days later, i spent my hours to watch all their lives, from official acc, music festival acc, reuploader, even fancams😂 Can't believe that this phenomenal rock band existed, and i've never heard them before The ultimate strikes was yokohama live 2014. I literally crying, i've never seen a band like OOR. They are just TOO PERFECT, fulfilled all criterias of perfect band. I really regret not found them earlier. Until now, extremely envy with the crowd at Yokohama 2014 and Saitama 2015😭

It is a similar way we found them. I was scrolling social media and saw a 5-second clip of Renegades and immediately needed to know who they were. I went off and found their name and basic information and thankfully Loo was also intrigued. We are so glad we found them as they are now my current favourite band - Lean xx

I've seen some of their interviews, live instagrams, and live youtubes, it seems that they have their own definition of being the greatest rock band in the world. That's why they're not taking some "fast steps" to make people know them faster and wider, which might be the reason why it's taking a long time until a person get the first exposure of OOR. Yess, they have many documentaries, literally each album has its documentary, but it's hard to find ones with full english subtitle. I highly recommend watching Flip a Coin, it's about their special online concert in 2020 after covid canceled their asia tour. You'll see their personality, their history, their love, passion, and dedication in creating Live performances🤍

Taka was not feeling well at this concert and this song is the last song in the concert ( the concert was about 2hrs), and he sounded this good. This man's passion and talent is incredible. I personally love the live versions. This band sounds so good live that, what you see is what you get. They can play raw and clean at the same time. For the documentary, others have suggested Flip a coin which is available in Netflix, you can start with that. Taka (vocalist and frontman) is the main composer and lyricist of the band. His parents are both famous singers in Japan (you know how he sounded soo good, it runs in the blood) and he has a younger brother who is also a vocalist of a rock band. I will not talk about his backstory since it will be mentioned in the documentary and it it very interesting so you really have to watch it. You'll realize soon where he get his lyrics and stories as you go over their songs. Toru (guitarist) is the man who started One Ok Rock, and the leader. He recruited the members when they were all in their teenage years. He actually convinced Taka to join the band even Taka did not want to join before. Ryota (bassist) is a good friend of Toru, they were in the same dance group before forming One Ok Rock. He is married to Avril Lavigne's sister, Michelle. Tomoya (drummer) is the best drummer for me. He came from a music school that is why he knows how to play other instruments. Btw, you mentioned Woosung, well I also like The Rose. And did you know that The Rose covers One Ok Rock song "Heartache" when they were starting. And The Rose attended One Ok Rock's concert in Tokyo Dome last April. That concert is the concert in the Renegades live you reacted to last time.

This song was written for when Japan voting age went down from 25 to 18. I highly recommend checking out their 18 fest concert. Its long so you can fast forward to where the sing this song with a few thousand teens as a choir. Thank you for your reaction. I agree waisted nights should be your next one.

OOR is definitely very versatile in the rock they play and sing. They have songs that are really screamo punk style, popy rock songs, heavy rock, amazing ballads and great covers. The man can sing the phone book and make it a hit. They are very good musicians all of them play different instruments including taka.

Hi! I'm loving your reactions to One Ok Rock! I wanted to recommend two songs by them, Nobody's Home and Hard to Love. They were both written about Taka's family (Hard to Love is more specifically written to his dad). This performance of Nobody's Home (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIqndIeXh8prgskfeature=shared) is one of the best, the song was written about his family since both of his parents were famous singers in Japan, they knew how hard it was and really did not want Taka to drop out of school and give everything to this, he obviously did though, the performance that I linked was the first time his family came to one of OOR's shows so it's a pretty emotional performance. Hard to Love (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4nLfXp9p5aMhc0feature=shared) was written to his dad years after Nobody's Home, and it's almost a thank you song, still emotional but a lot more sweet than sad. These are some of my favorites, so even if you can't react to them I hope you have the chance to listen to them on your own time! :)

hey Lean and Loo, You're right that there are fewer real rock/hard rock/metal bands in the West that aren't already of retirement age. There aren't many musicians who rely more on mastering their instrument than on retouching it with electronics. Asia, especially Japan, has discovered rock/hard rock and metal for a long time. The scene in Japan is rich with world-class artists who are just beginning to conquer the West. and many are now realizing that the West has nothing equivalent to offer at the moment. Only in Japan, for example, are there more than 100 established metal bands. There are also many women-only bands. like 'lovebites'...'band maids'...'nemophila'...'babymetal' and others. or the exceptional 21 year old girlsinger 'Ado', who gives concerts but does not reveal her face or identity.

@@LeanAndLooReact Burnout Syndromes has a fair bit more electronic influence than SPYAIR, but both are so good, especially their First Take performances. I also know SPYAIR has recently changed lead singers (the original/previous lead singer left the band due to health issues) & are re-releasing some of their music with the new lead singer on the track. It’s definitely interesting to hear both versions- both are very good vocalists.
