Матей Корвин был румыном. Венгру не устанавливали бы памятник, даже если он родился в Клуже
@Personal.Experience Жыл бұрын

this is a post truth urban legend feed by Hungarians and some few people exasperation that many things didn't progress in a better direction according with their wishes . Austrian brings some discipline and more rules but in exchange stollen resources and war .

Matthias/Matei Corvinus/Corvin was half romanian on his father's side, Ioan de Hunedoara, a romanian ruler of Hungary. He was born in Cluj. That's it. Pretty much nobody ''takes pride'' in being occupied by Hungary at some point in time, then by the Ottoman Empire and the Austrian Empire and being forced again under hungarian occupation and magyarization after 1866 and the creation of Austria-Hungary. It's strange that you even thought that. Who takes pride into being occupied, having little to no rights and being assimilated? Do you think the poles ''took pride'' in being occupied by several empires, dismantled and disappearing as a sovereign state? Do you think the baltic states took pride in being occupied by the Russian Empire or the USSR? Did Russia take pride in being occupied by the mongols, the french, the germans? Perhaps the least negative feelings are towards the Austrian Empire from all, because it was the one that invested the most in Transylvania and brought in a certain mentality and the german settlers. But even they invested most of the money they made out of all the conquered territories especially at the core of their empire, in the areas of Vienna, Prague, etc. while the areas at the periphery, like Transilvania, got the lowest amount of money for infrastructure. Even today the 2 most disliked states in Romania are Hungary and Russia, not necessarily in that order. Mostly out of historical reasons and recently or constantly provocative and irredentist rhetorics made by top politicians in Budapest and Moscow. Hungarians talking trash about Transilvania or russians talking trash about Bessarabia. Putin even implied Romania should be dismantled and its territories occupied by other states. Then we also see what Putin's Russia has been doing and is doing to the peace in Europe: Transnistria in R. Moldova, Georgia twice, Ukraine twice (including the full scale invasion from 24th february). We don't have russian propaganda tv channels to be lied too. We have nothing against regular people, tourists from these countries, but we dislike their governments actions.

Occupation is a tragedy for people living in these countries. I live in Azerbaijan and I know this because 20% of my homeland was under Armenian occupation for 30 years. In 2020, we returned our lands by military means. Cluj is a great city, I wish all the best to the people of Romania.
