It is so heartbreaking what happened to the Romanov children. They were beautiful, innocent souls and didn't deserve to come to such a brutal end. Neither did their parents. Thank you for showing us the pictures in color. It makes them so relatable to our modern eyes.

First one 🌝🥺❤. Looking at Maria, it makes me wonder does god make people like Maria anymore. My heart yearns for her. She just has a special place in heart 🥺. The romanov children are very special. If olga was dull, then she would never told her father about the causes for the downfall of her family , if tatiana had been weak, then she would not taken the duty of her nursing with efficiency. If Maria was weak, then she would not have been an obvious choice to accompany her parents to Yekaterinburg and if anastasia was weak, she would not have cheered up her family's spirits and alexey didnt have any malice about inherting the throne and suffered his hemophilia with great courage. May the angels rest in peace ❤

My granddaughter favors her some. We are American but my daughter married one of most amazing young men I have ever known. He’s Russian and came here on a tennis scholarship at 17. He’s a wonderful husband, father, and I call him my son. He’s a tennis instructor but is taking a break to go to flight school to get his pilot’s license. He’s so kind, loving, caring and very smart. And very handsome. 💙

All the Tsar’s daughters were beautiful but I think Maria was the most beautiful. Interestingly, Lord Louis Mountbatten met her before WWI and had a crush on her his whole life. The empress was Lord Louis’ maternal aunt.

Her character was known, she was 19 when she died so a young woman not a child and many Royal connections and historians have recorded what her personality and character was like. Marie was by all accounts quieter and more dominated by her sisters especially Olga and Anastasia and she tended to mothere her younger sister and brother. She was sensitive, her older sisters sometimes picked on her but she was warm, friendly and competitive with physical strength above that of her sisters. She was apparently a tomboy type girl in a sporty sense happy and keen to compete against men. She was probably the least Royal of the sisters in the sense she had a more simpler persepective, desire and instinct to wanting to be a mother and marry a Russian soldier rather than have a political or high society role and presence like Olga did. I can imagine Marie was more down to earth and lighter as a result of this and along with her softer welcoming looks and personality, she attracted men. In footage and photos she smiled more than her sisters too in public showings. Certainly a character of sincerity and strength. A woman mature beyond her years.

A desperately sad end to any young and obviously pure of heart family, but would we be as heartbroken if they weren't so almost eerily beautiful I often find myself thinking? Not that it matters but I've never seen a more beautiful family, royal or otherwise, cant imagine the nerves I woulda had meeting such people in real life.

I can see why, in the Romanov family, Marie's eyes were known as "Marie's saucers" because of her wide-eyed innocence. Supposedly once when she was caught misbehaving by her parents, the Czar is reported to have said, "I'm glad to know she's just a human child. I can remember seeing a picture of her in my grandmas house when i was a boy, it was honestly, the first time i can remember looking at a girl and getting butterflies in my stomach from her beauty. Its kinda funny thinking back but i clearly remember standing there for at least five minutes just drinking that image in.......not really understanding the feeling. I still love that picture, it was a while until id understand her and her family's desperately tragic story......couldnt imagine such a cowardly murderous act as to shoot these people.

I read that Maria felt excluded towards her older sisters and they often called her step sister bcz she thought she is so good and never get into trouble. Maria even try to befriend with her cousin but Alexandra said it would make her sisters think she doesn't want to get along with them. I think it's quite sad and i want to explore more about her relationship with her sisters. I also read Olga got angry with her in their days during captivity bcz she's being too friendly with the red soldiers.
