I think the Vacheron Constantin Nautilus is the most beautiful sports watches. I like the Piaget watch and chain combination Islam anniversary. The enamel cloisonne dial that doesn't fade is work of art. The Urwerk looks like a spacecraft on the wrist.

For most recognizable I think it’d have to be either a Datejust or Submariner, for all the hype the AP and Patek have you still need at least a surface level interest in watches to recognize them, meanwhile someone with no interest in watches would still recognize a Sub or Datejust (maybe not by model but they’d at least recognize its a Rolex)

Given the brand recognition of Rolex, then the Oyster or Sub. I have always maintained that Rolex is the choice of those that know nothing about watches. That's not to say Rolex are not woth owning, but from a horological stand point there are far better alternatives out there, be it complications, innovation or just quality. So for the man on the street, Rolex is always going to be a brand that is recognised. Even when considering the Nautilus, Royal Oak. PATEK, VC or AP, do not have the same level of recognition outside of those in the know.

Robert Reynolds I think you’re probably right. But I’m going to approach the question not from a hard-core enthusiast point of view but of someone with a little more than a passing interest in a watches. Recognizable means somebody glancing at your wrist and it registers as “X”. The Air King will register in the brain as many people’s classic idea of “a nice watch“. I’m not so sure they would recognize the model. The most recognizable plain Jane in my eyes is the Explorer. But if we’re throwing price point out the window, it’s really, probably, the Hamilton Khaki King.

hate to be that guy, but just a little correction with that arabic translation. We are currently in 1441 hijri year, so it is not 50 years ago. At the back under the mosque it says ''Muhammed is the Messenger of God''. And Under that is the sentence which your friend wrote, however that sentence are not words from the Prophet Muhammed, rather it is a verse from a poem which was written by someone else in the occasion of the hijra (immigration from Mekka to Medina). That verse actually just translate to something like : "you that have been sent to us ... you came with the command that shall be followed".
