Mr Queen had me rotfl almost all the time for the first half of the episodes, and then it started to grow on me, and as I empathized more with main leads, it became so touching and made me very emotional, I felt their pain and cried with them. A perfect drama for me, it had everything I love - good humor and touching scenes, beautiful ost, I enjoyed it very much!

Absolutely not 19th century or earlier as Mr. Queen, or Rookie Historian (which I agree is a great historical show). Six episodes in, and I don't get the fuss re Mr. Queen.....If it doesn't get much better real quick, I won't bother finishing it.

There is only one winner here! MR.QUEEN!!! The best work of Shin Hye-sun since Five is enough despite the role she had in that drama wasn't as prominent as Mr. Queen. Don't get me wrong, I like her works (Angel's last mission is a very good one too), but those two stand out. Obviously joking for those offended cause the other dramas are good as well. wink

Secret royal inspector is really a good drama! I recommend it. One of the best, it is so fun and entertaining to watch. I really love how the secret royal agent and his team did their best! The ending is superb-you can call it-what you called a "ending".

River Where the Moon Rises tells the same story as My Only Love Song, no? I'm certain it will be better than that one, as "My Only..." was something of a comedy/fantasy romance, while I think "River..." will play it straight. That comic element is what has me downplaying Mr. Queen, at least through 5 episodes. Playing it straight is always the better choice for historical shows, IMHO, even if there are fantasy elements, i.e. Chicago Typewriter. That was a wonderful well done series. Mr. Sunshine, my all time best drama, bar none, has a lot of comic moments ("Let's do it. ... Love."), but they are low key, and so well done they don't overwhelm the basic story line.

OK, after watching 8 episodes, I finally have come to believe Mr. Queen is worth watching. A Top Tier show, competing with many others for a spot in my 5 - 20 rankings. It isn't top 5 though, not yet. The comedy is too over the top, the drama too intermittent and the romance seems to be a prop for the comedy... I'll find out if my thinking is justified or not....

Many of these dramas go off the deep end with unrealistic garbage. That is the problem with most modern Korean dramas. There are far better historical Korean Dramas produced 5 to 20 years ago such as (1) Dae jang geum - A Jewel in the Palace, (2) Empress Ki, (3) Iljimae, (4) King’s Daughter Soo Baek Hyang, (5) Queen In Hyun's Man, (6) Dong Yi, and (7) Yi San.

@@dc6354 Whenever I see a recommendation for a show I'm not certain of, I look at the other things being recommended by the person. If I find their tastes to be similar enough, I'll try 2 - 3 episodes to see if maybe my suspicions are justified or not....Misaeng came highly recommended, I was skeptical, tried it, and found it to be Ok to good. Maybe an 7 or 8 of ten. I'd recommend it, but not highly...I'm positive you will enjoy Sunshine, based on what you've listed here as worthwhile.

I am going crazy looking for a period drama I had seen a while back. I can't for the life of me remember the name, but it was about a not so beautiful and shy girl who I think died in a car accident and then woke up in the body of a beautiful, but mean girl in the past. The woman who's body she occupies was really mean and somewhat evil. And her fiance and everyone didn't like her. But now that the main girl is in her body, she's much nicer and her fiance falls in love with her. That's about all I can remember and I've been searching everywhere! Anyone got any idea? It was either a Korean or Chinese fantasy period drama.

I think I recall a somewhat similar story. It's a chinese drama but the FL did not die in a car accident, I'm not sure what happened but the FL is a writer but she got sick and lost consciousness? After waking up she found herself in the body of one of her characters which btw was in historical setting. She became one of the supposed villain or mean character and, yeah, everyone hated her because she's written as spoiled and mean..if I'm not wrong its title is The Romamce of Tiger and Rose
