Le portique d'Octavie. On est pas loin du forum boarium et du théâtre de Marcellus. Le Tibre est tout proche...il est amusant de penser que le sol sur lequel vous marchez est plus haut de plusieurs mètres par rapport au sol qu'on fouler les romains antiques...

Salut Pierre. La région, depuis l'Antiquité, était très menacée par les crues du Tibre et les inondations. Ici, à l'époque pré-romaine, il y avait un lac où passait le Tibre. Les Romains avaient modifié la région en contenant le fleuve, mais une fois l'empire effondré, le Tibre a recommencé à inonder la région et les sédiments se sont accumulés au fil des siècles. 🙂

What a pity, so little is left from huge monuments. But there is large place left for imagination. I observed the restoration of Porticus, long and detailed work....
