This is the fishing video of our 2023 Season Opening trip Rompin to Tioman leg. Day 1 of 3. Even though the weather was rough, Rompin Siong did his best to get us ONZZ to some good pelagics and bottom fish. Enjoy!

So expensive rm 2200 in sg 620 only have ice , drink and live prawn only. Fishing in sg is 620 all in.

Not very clear. Isn't sg620 for ice, drink and live prawns plus so many fish very good? In sg there are charters charging from 500 to even more than 800 per day and also includes ice, bait and drinks. So I'm not sure what's the complaint.

cocky captain...proud & arrogant just bcoz he is the best...he needs some humbleness as he must remember the term "impermanence" bcoz nothing is permanent!

hi conrad, very glad that u asked! i will try to share with u what happened for ur consideration :-) i am sure that u must hv felt some cockiness & lack of humility in ah xiong's attitude during ur trips with him as captain but may be to a lesser extent than us, as u are a youtuber & videoing the trip. fyi, i only had a 4-day trip captained by ah xiong himself last year & already experienced his cockiness & lack of humility but we tolerated it bcoz he is really good & we had a great catch. we even tipped him very well (m$500). however, the straw that broke the camel's back this time ard was that he assigned us another boat driven by iwan, who is incompetent & arrogant. on the 1st day, iwan spent almost 70% of the time travelling to a few unjangs without yielding any good catches. at abt 3.30pm, we got impatient with the extensive travelling time, i calmly asked iwan why is he travelling so long btn fishing spots spending 70% of the time travelling instead of fishing. guess what was his response? he said that the sea is rough & cannot go fast. he added arrogantly that if we are unhappy, we shld end the fishing trip & go home. he then full throttled the outboards & sped directly to tioman. frankly at full throttle, the boat ride was not that bumpy, so the sea is not that rough after all. when we reached tioman jetty, ah xiong was there & iwan complained to him abt us immdly. i then shared what was explained above with ah xiong. instead of trying to mitigate the situation as any good service provider wld do, he only asked did iwan slept. as we were busy fishing, we did not observe whether iwan was sleeping, so giving the benefit of the doubt, we said no. he then said that they are always stressed when catches are bad. though we do not agree, as iwan does not seem stressed at all throughout the whole trip, we refrained fm sharing this with ah xiong to avoid any further disputes. as any customer wld hv expected fm any good attitude service provider, ah xiong shld mitigate the situation by saying that he wld hv a good word with iwan & that he wld personally guide him on how to do better, etc...but instead his response to the situation was that it is up to us to end the trip or continue as we wish. since we in tioman already, we hv no choice but "lan lan" to continue hoping the 2nd & 3rd day fishing wld be better. on the 2nd day, which is supposed to be the best day of the fishing 3-day fishing trip bcoz it will be bottom fishing off tioman deeper water, unfortunately it was not to be, as iwan still tie up at unjangs most of the time & we even caught him sleeping with photos as evidence this time ard to serve as proof. on the 3rd day, iwan was a little bit hardworking doing drift fishing but at 2pm he stopped drift fishing & tie up to a unjung again. without any good catches except for small sting rays, eels, arumugams & batfish, he maintained at the same unjang without carring whether we are hvg any good catches or not. at 3pm, we were infm to pack up & he headed for rompin jetty. hope the above lengthy recollection (cld be lengthier if i eloborate further) gives u a flavour of our bad experience. as u mentioned very correctly that we shld be respectful with our comments but i also believe that respect must be earned & cockiness/lack of humility do not deserve any respect. fyi, even the organiser of our trip told us that he will no longer be booking any trips with ah xiong bcoz of his cockiness & lack of humility, as well as the high charter rate he is now charging.
