I have the honor of knowing Rudy Molina, we have shared many hours together. Over the past Six or seven years I do not recall exactly the year we were introduced. it was at the Veterans Day Parade in Modesto, ca. the director of our Vet Center introduced Rudy to those who represented the Vet Center in the Parade, Rudy had just been admitted to the Center. Since then we have become real close. After some time Rudy opened up to me about some of the trauma he lived thru. The loss of thirteen of his fellow Marines, in the battle My Loc that Kovic suffered serious wounds that left him paralyzed. His very close friend Steve Serrosi was killed in that battle, Rudy and I recently had the opportunity to go to the Viet Nam Memorial this past month May 7th - 9th on the Valley Honor Flight 16 to DC. Rudy was Honored and I was his companion. Steve Serrosi's name on the Memorial is there along with the other 12 Brave Men that Gave all to Save Kovic from enemy fire. there was no cowards that ran for cover that day although some would say there was. Rudy is writing a book of his version of the Battle, and its going to be a tribute to all those who Gave All and those that fought to save a fellow Marine. I know all who read this Non-fiction true story of the Battle will honor all who Fought and Died that Day. God Bless Rudy and his Brothers who shared that day in Nam

Such a great moment. Through research and comments on youtube videos, I put a friend of mine in touch with "Doc" his Corpsman from the Marines in 1968 Vietnam. It is one of my proudest moments. They both were at the battle of Dai Do and April/May of 1968.

Strange that Kovic totally forgot who saved his ass in his book! He had purposely lined up the Scouts "in a perfect line", and said: "Let's go!", moving them into "a wide open area"., "just like in the movies." directly into a village full of NVA snipers, getting 3 of his Scouts wounded, and one killed! Then he lied about it in his book, claiming "they all ran away"! What price was his glory?

When you blame John Wayne and Sgt. Rock comic books for leading you to war instead of admitting that you blew it while in command of fellow Marines, you're liable to say most anything.

That meeting had to be really difficult for both of them.

What an awesome moment to share with you two. I am watching this with tears in my eyes. You both, as well as all those that served in Vietnam are heroes in every sense of the word. The older I get, the more important "being a man" is to me. You and your generation are men. God bless you Mr. Molina, and you too Mr. Kovic. Keep on kicking, because this country needs your wisdom and leadership.

That was very cool and I'm glad I got to be a part of it. Thanks. I read Ron's book and of course, saw the movie the day it came out. I was in the marines too but not in Vietnam.

Doesn't anyone find it odd that Ron Kovic didn't write one word about LCpl. Rudy Molina coming to his side while under intense enemy fire, rising up on his knees, exposing himself to that fire, and taking off Kovic's boot to bandage his foot to stop the bleeding? Within minutes, while Rudy Molina was returning fire, Kovic was shot again through the shoulder, with the bullet passing through his lung into his spine, and again, LCpl. Molina rose up to bandage his second wound to stop the bleeding, then pulled him to a small sand burm for cover from the enemies constant fire. Why weren't any of LCpl. Rudy Molina's acts of bravery and valor written in Kovic's book? Why wasn't it correctly portrayed in the movie he still gets royalties from? Why won't Ron Kovic respond to any of Rudy Molina's calls or emails? All 5 of the 6 living Scouts that Ron Kovic put needlessly into the open sands, want to speak with him as to why he claimed that "they all ran away" in his book of fictions! Ron Kovic won't speak with any of them, nor will he answer former Cpl. John Keaveney, who later carried him over 100 meters to a safe area for medical treatment and Med-Evac! John Keaveney isn't "a tall black man with long skinny arms and big hands"! John Keaveney is Irish, and although very big, he isn't dead as Kovic claimed he learned in his book! How could he possibly know that, while he was in a US hospital? They all want to speak with him, but he is afraid of the truth being revealed concerning his lies in his book! Ron Kovic dishonored each of them, and they all want him to answer to them, personally! He told Jeff Jardine in an article in the Modesto Bee, that he would "be more than happy to get together with them", but he still hides, and won't answer any of their calls, letter, or emails to him!~

Mark Mullan WOW. It’s unbelievable that he would write a fiction account knowing how easily you fellow soldiers could come forward and reveal it as a pack of lies. I still don’t see his motivation for lying. What is it? Could he just not remember it correctly? You would think he would have talked with you all to clarify events before publishing the book.
