This is available on cd from Amazon as part of the MercuryClassics collection. It is on a cd titled Fiesta in Hi Fi, and has been remastered from the original tapes in the 1990's. Wonderful American composers who wrote some incredible music are preserved in the Mercury Classics series.

Wonderful! Very American . Why has his name not been mentioned more. Slatkin who will always be remembered said he was quintessential American composer! Can't wait to hear more and will study this.

Dr. Nelson's website dates the composition to 1955, published in 1957. This recording was originally released in 1958 on the album "Fiesta in Hi-Fi."

I don't recall it as this fast a tempo in the old Mercury mono recording I had. These were back it the days when Mitchell Miller headed Mercury classics. Dr Howie Hanson was a chum of MM at Eastman where Mitch was a grad.

This isn't the original mono recording, it was re-recorded in stereo by Hanson and ER.
