Man, we are so lucky to have true soul brothers like Ron Isley and Al Green around that are still doing gigs and STILL have that incredible sound in their vocals that we grew with as kids listening to them...

Burt Bacharach AND Ronald Isley?! How ingenious! I just found this; so now I will listen to the rest of the concert. Thank you for posting. Though Ronald Isley's stylings are inimitable, Burt's melodies are so inherently beautiful that they need no ornamentation. Of course, I already know how the songs go. Burt's melodies are like a signature: You know it's his song the first time you hear it.

this is Ron Isley's interpretation of this song, putting Ron Isley on a classic ~ it's fantastic! And Burt hired Ron, knowing who Ron was and how he would sound, and that's what Burt wanted on this song ~ Burt, the expert, the great songwriter made an amazing choice........this is delicious!

Alan30189...what do mean..these guys? I detect a bit of...well anyways I agree with Jay Mac... Ronald I. is expressing the words in a beautiful way and obviously the man who wrote it approves or he wouldn't have had him on the stage. That's the cool thing about art...its flows and changes and can capture many thoughts and emotions. Its true expressive freedom and every time its played it should never be exactly the same way. I'm sure Burt changes his stuff constantly to gain new insight.

It's more the way he was singing than the way Burt was playing.
@jayjacqueline61511 жыл бұрын
Perhaps Burt's just tired of playing 9,999 times the same way since 1960-something.
@ronroc11 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ! There's nobody like Ron Isley. He's so versatile and within one song he mixes different styles seamlessly and gives this song emotional depth while at the same time giving it a light jazz flair. Andy Williams is cool but Ron Isley can go places Andy can't.

So Well Said!!! Great Comment! Thank you.
@emmettriley59622 жыл бұрын
Ron, you are right. I think that it's important to give both artists credit. Andy was a great singer. There styles and how they approach songs are different. Ron approaches songs more soulfully.
@kevinclarke86473 жыл бұрын
I like this soulful version but Sammy's jazz version is more to my liking. Ronald is a master unto himself. Praise be Brother!

My gawd Ron Isley's talented at his soulful approach. Not best version of this song, for me, but wow he's good.
He has a really great voice but i prefer the more simple versions of this song i grew up listening to Herb Alphert singing this
@vdeferens13 жыл бұрын
@Dogghouse531 Yeah, nah, its not really soul, dude. Its jazz-influenced pop. Pop is short for popular, generally meaning in a broad musicological sense any music that is not historically culturally "elitest" ie jazz or classical. So, whatever you want to call this semantically, its still pop.
