In the early 90s, I was stationed at the Pentagon and lived in Crystal City, next door to Reagan. I had a good quality scanner and my father-in-law and I walked over to the same spot. Best part was it was during evening rush hour, one plane after another landing and listening to approach control and other freqs. There werent' any signs nor fences to keep plane-spotters out as this was pre 9/11. Brings back memories!

Ahh that is awesome to hear. I still remember this day when I was there watching the planes with my Dad! Awesome spot to watch planes. Glad it brought back some pleasant memories. Cheers!

Yes it's called the "River Visual" for runway 19. It's quite interesting. Thanks for watching man!

Another 2 great spots to watch the action at DCA are Haines Point Park, which is directly across the river, and within the terminal. I don't recall if they closed off the area between the two terminals where there is a viewing area with large windows to watch planes take off and land. :-)

Great video. Love the River visual app. Say I were to fly into DCA, What's the easiest way to get to this spot? Thanks!

really cool vortex sound on that first plane, you can hear it just before it touches down, I'm suprised nobody has taken any video from the McDonalds near Charlotte Douglas. The planes fly low over there to land on the diagonal runway, literally about 5 seconds before touchdown, extremely low. And you literally can hear the vortex hit the building.

Is the Approach like that for that runway with that turn?
