Ronald Reagan is and was the most talented orator I've ever heard. He flows so evenly and with such grace. He could tell you the White House was nuked this morning and everybody wouldn't have one concern after he tells the public,...it will be ok, we will rise above this and overcome this small mountain. Fear not fellow Americans, we will survive. All with that tone that would calm a hurricane on your front lawn. Too bad he is not with us. He wouldn't have any problem being re-elected.
@artiecompoccia21479 жыл бұрын
+Yahron Mills Great orator? More like a great teleprompter reader. He gave this bit just like he gave (read) all his political speeches. Fluid and effective, but so contrived. Do you think Reagan ever wrote one speech he gave?
@yahronmills74049 жыл бұрын
+Artie Compoccia Definition of an orator: One who is exceptionally gifted to speak eloquently. Doesn't matter if he wrote a single line. His delivery was always well expressed. This was my point. Not many has risen to his gift of speaking.
@georgescarlett54419 жыл бұрын
+Artie Compoccia It always shows, (other than at this roast) that it's a whole lot easier, and much more powerful when one BELIEVES in what one is reading. On top of that, as opposed to the "Talking Heads" in today's media, he actually PRE-READ everything he would say!! Take away "Mr." Obama's teleprompter and you'd have "The Sound Or Silence", which would not only be better for America, but a WHOLE lot more beneficial ! Just sayin'
@artiecompoccia21479 жыл бұрын
+george scarlett Better for who? Certainly not for working people, much less the poor. Reagan did a nice number on them. As for the middle class? Well, what's left of it has been losing ground for a long time. I'm not sure how much Reagan did for the middle class. I know he helped rich people get richer with those unbalanced tax cuts. Obama raised the top earners tax rates and the economy grew. Another nail in the coffin of Reagan's discredited supply-side economic theory.
@tdelamont9 жыл бұрын
+Artie Compoccia My stepfather was a salesman, straight up middle class. Under Reagan we went from a small, modest home in the suburbs to a 10,000 square foot country home with four brand new cars in the driveway. Reaganomics didn't help the middle class? Bullshit. I was there and I lived it.

It was less adversarial, and Hollywood hadn't become a leftist monoculture as it is today, where the only conservatives who dare let anyone know it are the ones like Clint Eastwood who are already established. In this panel, you had Gene Kelly and Orson Welles, who were politically liberal, along with Jimmy Stewart, who was staunchly conservative (and yet a close, lifelong friend to Henry Fonda, another arch-liberal). You don't see that much today, where leftist celebrities routinely nastily express their contempt for anyone not sharing their leftist views.

He was funny as shit in clever and witty way, and his deliverance was spot on!! He was smart, humble, funny, he could laugh to himself also. Im not saying he was perfect, NO. But he was a good man, good president for the US. When his first term started he was allmost 70y old, cold war was on full swing, Breznev era USSR didnt show any signes of crumbling or anything like that. Then Reagan pretty soon got shot and survived it and publicly forgave his assailant and returned to his president duties fully recovered. He boosted economy in US, 80s was era of plenty, one year after his 2nd term ended DDR collapsed, 3,5 years after USSR collapsed. He probaply did more than any single person did to crush communism in Europe. Gorbatzhev too deserves credit for his politics, he too was a man who tried to make life better for average people in his country, probaply first and only leader with that quality in ussr history. He tried to bring ussr out of dark ages and he was willing to speak and deal with Americans more openly than any of his predecessors. Reagan kickstarted US economy and sorta turned the ship around and fixed Carters mistakes, he somewhat re-established the power of US in foreign policy and he didnt look only what could be done to benefit his country, his legacy lies in ending the cold war and bringing down communism in Europe. Without firing a shot. God bless you Ronald Reagan.

one more example of why they called Ronald Reagan the Great Communicator. may not have agreed with all of his policies but he could really resonate with the people. He also had a deep respect for the office of president and the United States...

His last line "Is it worth it if you have to give up being a king?" is so beautiful, and so true! Frank Sinatra was one of the greatest singers we have ever had, by far. What a compliment! :)

Our world needs to go back to times like this where everyone made pokes at each other and could take it with grace and humility. Ronald Reagan was an excellent speaker and perhaps the greatest President ever for how he carried himself and spoke to the nation.

Ronald Regan was a gentlemen from the word go. He had so much class and was a wonderful man. I loved him. He was a great President. I miss him terribly. I cried when he left us. Everyone at Franks roast was great. They don’t n never will make them like that again. All the greats were on that stage. It’s so sad to think that their all gone. I was so lucky to have grown up watching them. Entertainers like them only come around once in a lifetime!
