For me, he is the GOAT. At only 21 years, he ruled the world like champion not only in domestic leagues, but also in world cups and other international tournaments. Ronaldo was equally effective whether he plays for Barcelona, Inter or Brazil. And versatile. "Create something from nothing" that phrase goes most with Ronaldo. He really could create something out of nowhere. A true phenomenon of world football.

He could have become the GOAT and he had everything to become as big as Pele and Maradona. But unfortunately, injuries limited his greatness. He was only at his peak for 3-4 seasons. He was never the same after 2003. He could not win any UCL as the main man of the team.

@@hsafootballworld1321 after 2003? lol no, he basically had a carreer ending injury, that i remember seeing a coach say he only knew 4 players who had that, and they all struggled to walk all their life, everybody said he would never ever play football again, all doctors around the world, he still did a 3 year treatment and came back as the world cup winner and top scorer, everything after that wasnt even supposed to happen, consider that a bonus, he was at his 20%, only football knowlege

But, I would still say he overachieved, considering the serious injuries he had. He is without any doubt among top 5 players in the history of the game. If not for the injuries, it was very likely he would have surpassed Pele and Maradona. But such is life.

I remember watching the 98 World Cup as child, in Australia many of the games were on a 2 or 3 AM, so I had to sneak out into the living room and turn on the TV, one time the volume was loud so it woke my parents up. I had to go back to bed, but I came back out, my dad knew I did, but he let me anyway ha. I'll never forget the horrible feeling after the final, but seeing Ronaldo throughout was incredible. Watching this video actually makes me feel sad, seeing him and his potential, to know that soon he would have to suffer and endure so much, and realising that so many years have passed, 23 years, wow, I can't believe it. I miss those times so much, football felt so special, so many great players, and the leagues we all good, best of all, the leagues really had a different feel and strength to themselves. And I miss Ronnie, I know he had a fantastic career, watching the 2002 final with my dad is a memory I will forever cherish, but it all seems too brief now, time went by as fast as he ran, feels like a blur.

these days when i look back these old videos and kind of found out that defender those days were so harsh specially on him so many risky tackles and kicks he used to face in single game from the back, sides, front wherever possible. i wish if he had been protected a bit more like C. Ronaldo and Messi these days then we would have enjoyed the much more. even though i will always be greatful to him for making my childhood enjoyable with this beautiful game. thank you once again The Phenomenon!!
