Bale was uncharacteristically absent except for a few runs. The game against Belgium was was Wales at their best. Taking men on and moving forward ever time they had the ball. It's a shame to see Portugal in the final since they've been terrible this entire Tournament except this game and their last.

Compare that to the Belgium and Russia games where every opportunity they tried to take on their opponent at a 1 on 1 level. That they didn't attempt hardly any take ons and there was alot of terrible passes. The loss of Ramsey and Davies had more of an effect than I thought it would.

You know what, at first, I was really happy with there being 8 more teams in the euros, as it would give very little teams a chance, and it has worked to some extent with Ireland, Northern Ireland, Slovakia etc. doing so well. But now noticing the true gratitude of what Portugal has done, I personally think the euros need to go back to 16 teams. I think this, because now with 8 more teams (most of which are shit), it allows big teams to play shit or not really try in the group stage (like the group of individuals that is Portugal) and then actually start trying to win going into the round of 16 and so on. So now these 8 extra teams take all the competition out of the group stages, for the big teams. The only international tournament that can afford to have more than 16 teams, is the world cup, because all those 16 extra teams are actually good, and give the big teams a challenge (like USA and Ghana challenging Germany, and more importantly Portugal who were deservedly eliminated from the group stage), instead of just 8 teams, like in the Euros, that give a free pass to big teams to go into the round of 16, even if they play extremely bad in the group stages. Jesus, that was long, but necessary.
