Great review, thanks! A lot of insight and opinion from someone that apparently has experience with bike-packing, gravel and off-road. Having all of the choices of today, would you put your money to own it? (and why? :) )

On the ST1 if you stick an 11-40t cassette you should be able to get pretty good lower gears and a wide range even for the road. The GRX400 seems to be able to cope with it by stock even though it is not officially supported.

I have the Vittoria mezcal 2.1 in 650b. It doesn't do well in clay mud at all. I wish you could do a review on the terreno tires on mud. The seat stay mounts are cool too, I wonder if you have big feet will your heels hit while pedaling?
@bicyclepicnic
@bicyclepicnic Жыл бұрын
Hi, the Terreno are for dry terrain, although while I tested the bike everything was pretty wet (like most of the time here in Belgium) and the tires did a pretty decent job on fine gravel and grass. On mud they’ll clog very quickly because there isn’t enough space between the knobs, and the knobs aren’t deep enough. For the seat stay mounts, you make a good point there, I’m gonna ask my friend to check that 👍🏽

Hi ! I finally was able to check the heel clearance for putting a bottle cage on the seat stays mounts, on the size L there is enough room for big feet, the mounts are actually pretty far up.

Hi, same bike, same problem with the stem, which one you put instead?
@bicyclepicnic

Hi ! We shortened to a 50mm one… can’t remember the brand. The best is to do some testing if can borrow a couple of stems

Hi ! The remote is installed on the handlebar. Unfortunately I don’t remember the model of the seatpost. Cheers!

Hi. Great review. Can you show us how is routed the dropper seatpost and the lever in the handlebar? Thanks!
@bicyclepicnic

Hi thanks ! The cable goes from the handlebar down under the diagonal tube (together with the rear brake housing) before getting to the bottom bracket the cable goes inside the seat tube, you can see that on minute 1:27

Thanks for sharing. Do you recommend this bike for pretty fast commuting (I get up always late 😅) or I should look elsewhere? I had a breezer radar pro and a breezer radar café and I felt those bikes really sluggish, ended up with selling both. I don't want to buy another one with same feelings, I hope you understand what I mean.. Thanks for replying!
@bicyclepicnic

Hi ! I don't this bike is the ideal for fast commuting (unless you a very lucky off road commuter...) I think this bike can be fast but OFF ROAD. On tarmac the handling is a bit sluggish, it has a high trail so it means it tends to keep the line, that's not a nice feeling on tarmac I find. For commuting, gravel and light touring, I would consider the RONDO RUUT AL, I tested it once and did a photoshoot www.bicyclepicnic.com/post/bike-review-rondo-ruut-al that would be my choice for a commuter ;)

Oh, and yes for 12 km way to work, the half is on the path beside the river and the other 6 on tarmac. I saw the ruut, very interesting but I have already an allroad endurace bike, so I wouldn't buy a very similar bike than my votec vrc. Have a nice day!

Beaucoup trop fragile.

Thx for the great review. 👍 The tyre fitting problem with the adjustable fork is an absolute no go for me. Dont get it why some manufacturers stick to this adjustable idea. In the end you look for one setup that fits. And btw....it looks ugly on this one. Imao

Hi ! I can see your point, similar situation with bike with exchangeable wheelsets (650b + 700c) at the end it’s better to have two or three bikes each optimised for one purpose

11,5 Kilos - what a heavyweight. Not less than a hardtail with a rigid fork
@RonT.
@RonT. 4 ай бұрын
Its not a heavyweight, when you think about the aspect of real steel and a bike that is made for long distance cyclingship. Its a rough companion.
