First time I heard this was at a party in Sheffield in 1997-8 visiting a friend at the uni. All his friends were together in a large dimly lit room and there was a DJ. It was post-acid house and rave era and people were serious about their drum and bass. The ragga had diversified into atmosheric and jazz and it was multicultural as well, Indian experimental stuff among others. The people were very friendly and had dreadlocks or crazy spiky hair and quirky looking baggy clothes with lots of pockets to hide drugs in. The air was thick with weed smoke and someone passed me a spliff the size of my forearm, which had buds in that crackled sweet juice when you inhaled. Everything looked like it was glitching in slow motion and I could hear the layers clearly separated in the music, surrounding me and washing over me. The DJ dropped this track and I was like holy shite wtf is this!!! Every single little hair on my body stood on end with the endorphin rush that went up through the back of my head and down through my arms and nose. I looked down at myself and realised I was no longer sitting on the floor smoking - I was now on my feet and dancing with everyone else. I'm so glad I was there. I do hope young people today have similar.

Austin metro, soap bar shotties, weed blunts. Ronnie size beating out of house speakers rigged up in the metro.. We live in the deepness of the country lanes and we got fucked on every drug and the times of freedom! We talk of the youth of today not realising, feeling the emotional release we had back in the day but they will reflect, reminisce and long for their time and music. No doubt they will comment on the generation growing beneath their time and view as our generation do today..

Only someone that doesn't listen to much Dnb would say that. I've listened to Dnb almost constantly since the early nineties, I'm even listening to Dnb on pirate radio right now.. it's a great tune for sure, but i had to come here to here it again, because most DJs just don't want to hear it ever again 😅 basically, it was played to death, and slightly overrated. Other less commercially successful tunes gets more airtime on pirate radio than this, yet most people here have probably never heard any of them before 🤷 It's almost like he was taking the piss at the time, "rhythm made out of brown paper" sampling wasn't exactly new in the late nineties lol. I won't mention his best tune "timestretch" 😝 again, a title named after a production technique that was already pioneered a year or so earlier, if Goldie is to believed (yes, that guy that relies on others to do all the studio work) 😅

Killer seeing late 90’s T-Dot (that’s what we used to call Toronto before “The Six” was popularized. Back then, you didn’t actually need to dial 416 before a 7-digit phone number in the city!) captured in this video. The “old” streetcar designs were iconic. We used to say that Toronto’s D&B scene was “second only to London”. I have no idea if that’s true… but it certainly felt awesome to yell it into a fellow Junglists ear while standing right next to some bass bins in a dingy warehouse or basement 🤣

Put this on in the car the other night, got goosebumps. I still remember seeing this video for the first time when it came out and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. The music "dusty yet mechanical", the video matches it perfectly. This track survives the test of time.

After hearing probably thousands of DnB albums still New Forms by Roni Size is my favorite, an absolute masterpiece in DnB (my #1 in my personal top ten dnb list) and in electronic music history. I have made people that don't like DnB have a listen at this album ,including this song, and they all have enjoyed it. It's 2021 and these songs feel like they are brand new, no matter if you want to party hard, chill or just drive around listening to something, this whole album will make you have a good time. This blow up my mind in late 1997. Then I bought the 2-disc CD.

More than a single or a record that trax was, IS & will be forever a master piece ! It was also a new style (some Newforms) and the begining of something new... Big up and big thanks Roni !

Top tune from the 90's and a standard that many have benefited from.

The cassette I had of this album was so worn out that my walkman ate the thing, choked on it, and died. Such great album.

Bratkip exact same thing happened to me. I made a custom 120 minute tape featuring the 2CD New Forms, Reasons for Sharing EP and a few outtakes/b-sides. One of the most played tapes I ever owned.
