I may be a little prejudiced with the Canadian content, but best of the best in my opinion.

Er, where was the representation of Ronnie Hawkins back up band that Bob Dylan stole to made his Basement tapes? The fellows who debuted their album called The Big Pink and called themselves, The Band? Robbie Robertson? Garth Hudson? Rick Danko (he was still alive at the time)? Richard Manuel had already passed via suicide (R.I.P.), and the only American was Levon Helm and he was still alive at the time of this Ceremony. Besides there were other Americans there, Michelle Phillips and John Sebastian to name a couple. Ronnie Hawkins was born American but became a Canadian citizen much like Long John Baldry came from England and fell in love with Canada, and American blues artist and actor Jim Byrnes who didn't go back even after he lost his legs in an accident helping to move a stalled vehicle on the Island Highway on Vancouver Island. Didn't see him there either although he won a Juno Award that year for Blues Album of the Year. But then there was a lot of top notch Canadian talent that was not on stage. No Neil Young, no Bruce Cockburn, no Tom Cochrane, and I can l keep going. Yet when it comes down to it, the simple fact is the music industry is about as fickle as it comes. Some artists just avoid ceremonies and gala events like the plague. Not to mention there is plenty of bad blood behind the scenes that can date back to two acts just sharing a concert lineup and exchanging heated words due to inebriation or other forms of intoxication. Just the way it is.

Nothing fickle at all. Ever think that some of these people had a gig or commitment somewhere else at the time? They are busy people. You're reading too much into their absences. Don't expect half the music industry on stage at this event and you won't sound so disappointed.

@@dropdtune9199 You misread, but I an not amiss with that, most people fail to read into my comments that I am applying a satirical comic piece of satire. Satire is a tricky thing, most folks don't get it in written delivery. It is not like I can pause for a moment for an audience to sink in that I was making a mockery of a lampoon. Standup comics such as Dennis Miller, and Denis Leary can get away with it because they can both vocally articulate satire and sarcasm in their pieces as well as leave said pauses. Satire is not ha ha funny it is cerebral and it is okay if most folks don't get it. I suppose, I could clarify it with sidebars of "LOL" or other "laugh at myself" bits or use lame icons, emoticons, or .gif loops. Or, I could toss in loads of cussing and swearing but then the censors at KZbin would jump all over me, not to mention the society of politically correctness. I am fully aware of limitations and obligations of artists and performers, as well as the production of such events where they also have to prioritize their venue limitations. As stated it was satire based on the obvious that everyone can not possibly be there. That is how satire works, they take both what is true and what is taken for granted and exploits them in different forms of artistic ridicule and humor. Monty Python was all satire. Second City Television and Saturday Night Live are all satire based skits and comedy. Stephen Colbert is a satire comedian and one of the best in political satire. Same as Bill Maher, who has done some faux journalism (actual fake news) that many Americans have taken as serious journalism. Too funny. Me, I am an amateur musicologist, so I poke fun at the music industry. Cheers
