I was 15 and she was 13 years old when we together both walked in the rain hand in hand and we made this song ours.after 42 years married we still hold hands when we hear this song. Dennis Youst did the song justice too!! Than you so much Ronnie!!

Her voice is so natural, I am just now learning her history behind the songs and ronettes. She never had voice lessons just Phil Spector to guide that god given talent. What she went thru with that guy was terrible

I read somewhere that Phil was a bit contrary back then,that he refused to glad -hand and pander and kowtow,at the radio level, in the industry to get his records played.It's a shame,the Ronettes should have been as big,or bigger,than the Supremes
@jasfan82473 жыл бұрын
@@bubbastill2040 Good point about that Phil business. At one point in 64 they were the no. 1. And then they married. He kept her locked up at home.

I think that the three Estelle / Nedra impersonators (Ronettes) did a beautiful job helping to recreate the sound of the Fabulous Ronettes........that takes a lot more than just Ronnie.Collectively, they and the band did a great job!! I recently saw Ronnie in concert............she is a tiny little lady who is barely 5 feet tall and weighs barely 100 pounds. She put on a great show.......I did get to shake her hand.

A command performance by the beautiful Ronnie Specter... MC-ing... is John Sebastian. I contacted him by e-mail just to find out more about this. He says that "Deja View" had a very short life due to lack of corporate sponsorship. That's a true pity considering the quality of this production and the superb Jimmy Vivino backing. I, for one would be very interested in seeing more of it. I would really like to have all of it on a CD to keep. This should definitely be preserved for posterity... It's just another example of quantity wining out over quality... That's the way of the commercial world. I want this... I want all of it... How do I get it to keep in my home...??? Seriously...

I've worn out my original tape and CD. Definitely one of the best and still going strong. Why does she still carry the Spector name? He was a sick egomaniac and deserves to be where he is. Unfortunately, he was also a talented writer and arranger. She was in her late 60s at this performance. Still looking great. REPLY
@anodyne575 жыл бұрын
I guess you could say she owns the name now as much as he does. It's the name that she carried when she became famous...her performing name. This was actually a 1986 performance...she was still a youthful 43. But even today, at 76, she's beautiful, with the same energy, enthusiasm and belting voice.
@Kohntarkosz4 жыл бұрын
. The problem with Phil wasn't that he was a "sick egomaniac" but rather that he was a violent and dangerous egomaniac. I once read that Ronnie and their daughter, when she finally decided it was time to escape the madness, had to wait for Phil to pass out drunk on the couch or whatever, and sneak out of the house in their bare feet, so as to not awaken him. Anyway, she was asked about this very matter in an interview back in the late 80's, when she appeared on whichever talk show it was I saw her on. She said if she used a different name professionally, people wouldn't know who she is. People know the name "Ronnie Spector" so she continues to use it, if for no reason than it's recognized by people (or was it back then, don't know how many people TODAY recognize it).

Ya know, I read an interview with Eddie Money once where he sort of took credit for "relaunching" Ronnie's career, because, according to him, before she performed on Take Me Home Tonight, she had quit music, as she had gotten remarried and had a family, and anyway she had bad memories of her life with Phil Spector. But I'm pretty sure this actually predated Take Me Home Tonight, which suggests she was still singing, which suggests to me that Eddie's claim that he had to talk her into doing the song with him might be more a matter of "good story telling" than "the truth".

Been singing and writing songs ever since too! For me It's her unbridled enthusiasm,combined with her barely bridled sexuality.And that VOICE! Ronnie Spector's vocals are so very mediocre. Her sound is so dated. The Ronettes were really lucky to have received a break in the 50s or early 60s. They would not have cut it at Motown. The raw or even commercialized (studio) talent is missing.
