I came across Ronnie's work in 2018. It was the series Way Back Home and I fell in love with his storytelling. His videos were an espace for me and helped a lot to get over all that I was going through. It brought me peace. After that, I started watching more of his vlogs and then Barty also joined the frame and together they made the best mountain videos EVER!!! Even though I've lived all my life in the mountains of Uttarakhand but still their videos feel like home, a soul-soothing virtual getaway. Thanks for doing what you're doing. ❤

Based on my own experience I can say that convenience of iPhone will make you fall in love with it and you will slowly and gradually use less of your camera gears. However, your cinematography skills are so powerful, your fan base will still be in love with your work.

I thought you guys were already living in Manali from the very beginning. Surprised to know that you built your home in Manali and permanently shifted in the last year only. Where were you living earlier? It's nice to see this nice calm and tranquil village side of Manali. As tourists, what we get to see of Manali is a very commercialized and terrible side of Manali that I honestly don't like at all. It's the same with Nainital in Uttarakhand. This is why we sought out a nice quiet little village in the hills of Uttarakhand which is far from Nainital and offers a lot of peace and tranquility. We built our home here in 2021. It's been an out of the world experience for us and I am sure Barty feels the same way too since she hails from a big city like Bombay. The iPhone video quality is good but I must say it's no match for what you were using earlier, probably a GoPro if I'm not wrong. With iPhone you get the typical pixelation that's always present in any mobile phone video recording. In many instances, even the faces are not properly visible and give a blurring effect of sorts due to the pixelation. But hey it's the quality of the content that matters as opposed to the medium its shot on. On a side note, I love how village aunties keep asking about kids all the time. We are childfree and don't plan on having kids. We get these same questions from village aunties all the time. I don't mind these questions but my wife gets a bit annoyed sometimes. I guess she isn't used to people invading her personal space so easily. It may take some time to get used to it but that's the way it is in Indian villages.

Had you not mentioned that in your title, I wouldn't even believe it for a sec that it was done on a phone. Not knowing your background, your video skills are amazing. Did anyone ever tell you about your heavy voice and wanna be Danny looks? No one cares for movies these days anymore...like you both have moved away from big cities. Great work as usual guys. I think phone videos are almost up there now. The initial part where you see lot of dense dry tree branches - that’s too much info for the software I guess and footage looks exceedingly sharp. Cinematic mode looks cool, but the edge detection needs a bit more work. The issue with macro lens is that it loses on details once light drops a bit. I’ve noticed that the best way to get macro’ish look is to disable the actual macro and zoom in 2x or so. Pro res and log is what I prefer too and yes, dynamic range is a bit better with that gamma curve. I think I got the best results on filmic as opposed to default app. Personally, I moved from 12 mini to 15 pm, but I feel it’s harder to take pics on the 15 pm right off the bat, but when you get a hang of it, it gives great results. Needless, it is great for casual shooting work and can replace entry level dslr/mirrorless for sure. Truly, pocket me rocket….and need big pockets for that behemoth, pro max.
