people will see what they want to see. When I look at the sermon around the sound bite on tv, I don't see anything racist. In fact, I think that this contextualized what we saw on the news. You looked at some of this and you still see racist comments. We will see what we want.

There was an essay in a journal last fall, The American Scholar?, written by an African-American (does it matter that the author was black or just that it may inlcude the truth regardless of the color of the person's skin). The title was Black America Needs a New Narrative. Is there still racism? Yes. Will there always be? Yes. Should it be continually addressed? Yes. But it is not as it was and it's about time victims become something else. People are really only victims by consent, you know.

You must be a white male. Because it is your belief that you solely must define what racism white supremacy is, and it's designated targets. But as Bro. Malcolm X stated, white males/females are in no moral position to claim offense from feeling hated by non whites. You are the source of hate. The very source. With no intention of removing the hate within you, ever. Because you lack God given humility, righteousness, self judgement. So don't tell Black people when to stop being or feeling victimized, until you tell yourself and others of your kind to stop being victimizers. That is not your place as a white male.

Wright talks about race, something that's taboo. If your not saying that racism is a silly little thing and we should just move on, your consider divisive. Racism is something that African Americans have to deal with constructively. To do this you have to talk about it. The problem most of America has is what does this have to do with ME, oh hes just a racist. And there is nothing you can say to them. They just know they are right.

This is what I was saying. You see a racist, I see a man telling the truth. We see what we want to see. Imus was running a game. He knew what was going to happen. He just did that mess to get out of his contract. A little vacation, next stop XM. And what happen?

michenwolf, I don't agree with you. I've listened to extended recordings of some of the sermons/statments in question and I stand by my original analogy to the Don Imus incident. Perhaps it is you who does not wish to see what is there.

I put my reply as a comment by mistake.

michenwolf, Many people may see what they want to see, but some, even though they may want to see something different, would rather just see what is there. Let me ask you something: "If you saw the tail of a dog as a leg, how many legs would the dog have?" Of course, some might say 4 and some might say, but both would not be right because, no matter what you call the tail of the dog, it is still a tail. I may see one thing, you something else. If you're seeing what you want, speak for yourself.

Rather than write a lengthy response to the conversation regarding a new black american narrative and victimization, it's more appropriate for you to view the interview in November after the election with Dr. Cornel West from Princeton University located on the Internet at site democracynow.xxx (insert the appropriate URL syntax and change xxx to org) under directory "/2008/11/19/cornel_west_on_the_election_of"

Just a thought. All these "The Real Jeremiah Wright" videos seem to me to be what the supporters of Don Imus might have done if they had put out, after his, just one, racist and indefensible statement, hours and hours and hours of his otherwise inocuous radio show segments and called them, likewise, "The Real Don Imus." Would any of those hours and hours and hours of Don Imus' otherwise inocuous radio show segments have made any difference to you? I didn't think so. Me too. Think about it.
