the GranLusso in that color makes it look very appealing and more aggressive than it probably would be. I feel the white on the GranSport takes away from the aggressiveness. Now in black the GranSport is a winner.

Gransport for me, looks like a Maserati should in my opinion! I also kinda wish that KZbin was around in the 1960s, because I can imagine you at Maserati and Alfa Romeo dealers reviewing glorious cars!! Such as an Alfa 2000 GTV or a Maserati Ghibli SS with the 4.9 litre V8.

Maserati is about elegance, style, opulence and of course performance. So, for those reasons I choose the Gran Lusso. In face, I put my money where my mouth is and just bought a 2019 Gran Lusso S Edizione Nobile!

Kind of like the Granlusso more as it looks more aggressive and lower to the ground IMO. The Gransport seems to be more rounded and bubbly in the front even though it's got the meaner nostrils. Maybe it's the colour and angle but I'm definitely feeling the lusso more. Awesome review as always!!!

How loud and pronounced is the exhaust sound compared to the pre-facelift models? I fear that they had to silence them due to some new EU regulations :( Looking forward to your feedback.

They actually didnt silence them which I was a little afraid of as well! If you watch my test drive videos with these cars you car hear that they're are this higher pitched pops when you hit redline. Its kinda hard to hear through video but check them out and let me know if you can hear. Its a much more refined sound if I were to explain it.

Rons Rides Thank you for the explanation, I know it is very difficult (or near impossible) to accurately capture all nuances of a cars sound on Camera. I was talking about that signature Maserati howl that sounds like a big group of trumpets giving an atmospheric play at around 3000 rpm as soon as the valves open. Subscribed now! I have the 2016 Ghibli (diesel engine) and now ordered the GranSport (petrol engine). I'll give you the reasons why : 1) while the diesel engine is allright, the exhaust filtre system is not. CO2 regulations became so restrictive that the Adblu additive is not adequate enough to get rit of the soot. The filter gets overloaded and a regeneration is neccesary. If you don't drive enough that regeneration - which needs an 'hot' engine - won't work. It has to be done at your Maserati dealer. It will cost you about 300 dollar. This created a problem because my 2016 Ghibli is still under Maserati waranty. I went about 3 times now and the dealer, well aware of the problem, took the cost on him. 2) The 2016 in not a car for a slightly 'bumpy' road. I have to slow down in order to avoid that the protective metalic plates in front of the wheels hit the road surface. I ordered the skyhook suspension now in order to avoid this problem (I hope). 3) the sport seats are definitely more attractive and comfortable for the back. 4) I wanted the 360° camera because backwards parking the car is more difficult that with my previous cars. This car makes to much sensor sounds without knowing what is really happening 4in front or in the back of the car. 4) I wanted the new advanced driver assistance systems which my actual Ghibli has not. 5) I really don't like the Zegna silk, it looks oldfashioned (and cheap, sorry guys). 6) Finally the front : I don't like the Granlusso front air intakes, I prefer the much more sportive looking honeycomb style air intakes from the GranSport. Finally, I think that only Maserati amateurs will see the subtile differences between the 2017 an 2018 Ghiblis because the know they are there. I find the changes overrated. Let's see what happens within 2 months....

Only because this specific GranSport is a base model and the GranLusso is an S model. All S models have more hp. So if you see and S model GranSport, then you'll have the 424 higher hp.

I think what makes the GranSport stand out is the back bumper. If you get that with the carbon fiber spoiler that was in the press pictures, it looks more sporty.

I agree that brown-grey is not the best and you know once we get over this brown phase it will be detrimental to the car. I think 2 great colors would be a red and a darkish blue as black often eats the shapes because it absorbs too much light.

The U-connect system is pretty decent. Especially compared to Maserati's old in house system. And each car is optioned with a roof but I dont even use mine lol. Those are minor things in the whole scheme of things.
