This put Israel over the edge. They used him to get the guy and despite Andy trying to explain later, it was too late.

NYPD BLUE, The Bobby Simone Era, Was SIMPLY THE FUCKING BEST BEST OF THE BEST, No Show Today Can Ever Touch The Epic Greatness that Milch and Bocho has Produced, and the Acting and Cast, From Mr Franz, Smiths, Macdaniel , Delany, Clapp, Tuturro and Brochtrup Are Simply Master Artists, This Show and Series is IS IT FOR ME, Case Closed. No one can touch, Duplicate or Come Near the Greatness of NYPD BLUE.

Part of the reason is the show is created in part by the real deal. Eddie Gibson is a real cop among others but mainly Bill Clark was a first grade detective and caught Son Of Sam.

That Steven Milch went on to create and write Deadwood was just awesome and it's such a shame the illness that got him and left him in the twilight it's just really sad but he left his mark on this world for sure.

As far as script, characters and acting are concerned, the Lost Israel episodes were absolutely heart-wrenching. Everyone was acting on all cylinders, with a note perfect performance by the mother. I love the way the squad is acting like one in this scene. The sacrifice of Israel was so sad.

The mother not being able to admit to herself what happened, and then anguish when she was finally able to face it. It’s incredibly hard to watch. Whenever I rewatch the series, these episodes and Bobby dying are ones I tend to skip; too heartbreaking.

This was the best episode(s) of the entire series. Easily the most dramatic and compelling with superb writing and brilliant acting from both the regulars and the guests. The gut punch of Israel hanging himself was brutal but made the power of the real monster and his impact on so many lives all the more real and raw. To contemplate that there are real cases like this out there is truly sobering...

Both Andy and Bobby have years of experience doing their jobs. And yet, there are times when a different set of Eyes can see "something" a bit clearer. When Bobby asks Lt. Fancy "How are we going to get him?"...and without missing a beat Lt. Fancy confidently says "bring that Israel down"...and the "Acting Class" begins to take shape! These snippets make me want to binge watch THE BLUE! 😉 I was surprised that The Lawyer left during 'The Show" for some soda though. Apparently he didn't have the giblets to see how this turkey was going to be cooked! The mental toll on these people in this Squad is incomprehensible. I'm toast after watching just a few samples! Cheers From Ohio To The BLUE Crew in here!

If he really knew anything about Andy, he'd know Israel would already have gotten a tune-up if Andy thought he was the one who did it.

Not thought. Never thought, suspected, or guessed. Andy explained this to Greg, you have to KNOW a guy is right, off solid evidence, and corroborating witness statements, before you lay a hand on him. And you do it to keep the witness from having to relive the whole thing at trial, or to keep the witness safe before a trial starts. You get a confession from a perp, to protect the victim, and the witnesses, not just to clear the case. Although it's GOT to be satisfying to slap the shit out of a wife-beater, and yell "BEEP BEEP!!"

I hate this episode I kind of avoid it when it pops up. That being said I’ve always loved this specific scene. If you liked the homeless guy he played a nice part in a Della Reece movie ( her son ) Miracle in the woods. A solid Della Reece treat. On another topic all tree jumpers should be executed being fed to lions or doused with ultra 93 and lit a blaze as capital punishment
