I got this helmet only yesterday after long consideration. I had a V8 which i have driven the hell out of and loved because of the possibility to ride it while it is open. There is nothing like feeling the wind in your face at lower speeds and being able to see and breath freely. Only few system helmets can be driven open legally and this brand was first. I didn't like it for its bulk, it was quite heavy, caught a lot of wind making longer trips tiresome. In the rain it was downright dangerous, as water would come in and fog up the entire thing. So when getting a new bike I decided to be serious about a helmet this time and got a Shoei GT Air full face. A lot more aerodynamic and better in the rain - although it would still fog up, it has plenty ventilation options. Still on nice days I would wear my old V8 because of the jet functionality. I also tried the Shark Evoline 3, but closing the chinbar there doesn't work with one hand. With this one it does. Still have to see how it is riding in wet conditions, but so far I find it a lot better than the V8 and there's still nothing like having your chin facing the elements.

Thank you for the comment. You'll have to let us know how you find its performance in the rain. What research did you do before deciding on this helmet?
@bikerabbi4 жыл бұрын
I bought the V8 a few years ago and loved it. Had a crash and my head hit the curb and the helmet performed well. Got up and walked away, no problem. I love the way it opens all the way back. That is a major value for me. I ride around under 50mph with it open and close it above that which is great on hot days. The worst problem is the leaking in the rain, and fogging up at slow speeds in the rain. But that's a problem with most. If the Carbon fixed the leaking, I'm in! The wind resistance topic you raised is insignificant: Under 50mph it doesn't matter matter.

Thanks for letting us know how you found the helmet, we appreciate it! Between the previous Boxer and the BoXXer, the seal has been significantly improved, though both visors still use a standard anti-fog coating. But overall, it's good to hear the helmet did its job well. How have you found the helmet for noise out on the road?
@eirinn4 жыл бұрын
I was a bit skeptical with the boxers at the beginning, but felt so much in love with them that I've used them for 13 years (v5 first then v8) . The inner materials and paints are usually top notch (hope they will make another gloss black version someday), while their weak spot has always been rides under downpours. The older chinbar seal was quite weak and problematic, and after a few years the water was easily dripping inside on my chin, and at the same time the visor was always getting foggy. Not the best conditions for a ride, especially at night! Hopefully the seal issue is now fixed for good, but unfortunately with that kind of visor I believe it would be impossible to fit in a pinlock visor, which would eliminate the visor fogging.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing how you've found the Boxer line so far! Though SHARP have not yet tested the new BoXXer, the new chin bar locking mechanism is hopefully stronger and offers a better seal in the helmet. The visor seal of the BoXXer has been improved and offers a closer closure to try and reduce water leakage. But, since it still has that curved shape, it will still suffer from the same fogging issues as its predecessors, since it is only anti-fog treated. Thanks for the comment! How have you found the Roof helmets out on the road?
@eirinn4 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets I've been mostly a tourer for 15 years, so I've tested them in pretty much every condition. V8 brought a large improvement in noise reduction, but lost something in comfort, especially around the ears area. I always used them mainly open, and closed when the weather was quite cold or rainy. The air circulation is good when closed, but should be improved around the visor (not an easy task I reckon) . What I've always found very nice, is that with the chin bar flipped, the wind helps you keep your head up straight.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
@@eirinn Besides the style, the convenience of being able to fully flip the chin bar back is great, especially when it comes to changing weather conditions. Roof have also done a good job of redesigning the BoXXer's chin ventilation by giving you a bit more control over where the air will flow. Thanks for letting us know your experience with the helmet, we appreciate it!

Bought a Boxxer carbon to replace my old V8. These are my conclusions comparing this new model to previous one: Pros: Better materials and built quality. More confortable. Lighter. Strap fittings and chin lock more easy to use. Cons: Noiser (extremely). Worst ventilation. Also, chin vents are useless because wind enters anyway.
@Championhelmets5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience! You've brought up some very fair points with the Roof Boxxer Carbon. Did you notice any difference in weight as well?
@dfelixpt5 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets Yes, that's why "lighter" is in the my pros list. Beside not much difference in specs, it felts quite lighter in the head. Other thing I noticed is that new boxxer is not so "tight" than V8 for same the size. Less pressure on ears what probably makes me feel noisier and forehead goes deeper almost to to eyebrows, what makes cover a little bit the view when going prone on higher speeds.

hi can you confirm this: “However, it should be noted that the 1090g weight figure is for their small shell size to fit XS to M sized heads, while their ML to XXL helmets weigh 1150g which is still lighter than the X-Lite.” some websites say that roof boxer / boxxer has 2 shell sizes: xs-m and ml-xxl. i thought they only have 1 shell size. is the 2 shell size on the boxer or boxxer? thanks

Can this be fitted with a bluetooth communication device? If so, which is best?
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! Though it doesn't include speaker cutouts, you can still fit a communication device. The best for this helmet would be the Cardo Palktalk system, since it's a universal system that lends itself well to a wide variety of helmets without skipping out on quality. Have you had a chance to try out the Roof BoXXer Carbon?

@Championhelmets5 жыл бұрын
In that case yes. It is better isolated overall. Both for wind noise as rain, the carbon boxxer performs better and lets less air and water through than the v8. The new visor plays a large role in this. Are you considering the boxxer carbon or boxxer fiberglass?

I have the new Boxxer Fibreglass helmet but the problem I’m having is, it’s hard to lock the chin bar when wearing it. Also the visor when hand closing it the rubber seal tends to fold down, instead of staying on the outside like when you close the chin bar it closes the visor as well but the rubber this time stays on the outside.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! Concerning the chin bar, we may need a bit more detail to see what it may be. It may be that the chin bar is just a little stiff and may loosen up with use. In relation to the visor, this is a complaint we've heard before with the Roof BoXXer, and it seems to be on other models as well. It looks like Roof have made the visor seal slightly too tight to allow for just opening or closing the visor
@saltire5465 жыл бұрын
Why did they not incorporate the same system as the Desmo ?, Still a huge improvment from the previous model pity the price has shot up a lot .I had a boxer v8 years ago and hated it because of the space between the chin bar and my face, and trying to get those stupid tabs to shut was a pain so i sold it and bought a Roof Desmo which i love true one handed operation .Dont think these are available in the USA.
@Championhelmets5 жыл бұрын
Can't really say what influenced Roof's decision on the opening system, but the BoXXer should still be way easier than the V8 (although true, not as natural as the Desmo). Off the top of my head, I'd guess it may have been a partially stylistic decision. We ship to the US (in about 10 days), and we offer a free visor too.

Hi, We have had a customer with the same kind of problem before. There are a couple options. If you can drill a little into the center of the screw, then super glue an old screw driver or something that you can use to unscrew the screw and that should work. You can also contact Roof in order to get a new set of screws for your helmet. Will you let me know how it goes?

Value is not my first consideration. Safety is… with that comes quality. Honestly when it comes to protecting my head I’m willing to shell out the extra money for a more expensive safer helmet with higher quality materials that is comfortable and then looks good… I’m investing in the longevity of my brain and ultimately my life, I can’t quite grasp how people justify setting a low budget for protecting the most important part of their body.
