When I was in high school, my brother and I got a 2nd hand CB radio. Initially, we mounted the aerial on the chimney, but later, we mounted the aerial on a heavy plate of steel, that saddled the roof-top's ridge. The roof ground-plane effect of the corrugated steel, made a huge improvement in range and signal quality. Seeing you operating rooftop, simply reminded me of youthful exuberance and confidence. Sadly, I was unaware of Armature Radio, and after a couple of years, the interest in CB, waned, and that was the end of my radio activities, until a few years ago. Although I enjoyed your presentation ( I may again, try operating from such locations while installing masts and aerials), I'm worried that you may be accused of promoting, 'risky behaviour'. A combination of risk adverse, litigious, and stupidity ("do not drink coolant" & "images in mirror are behind you" - car user manual, "do not dry pets in microwave" - microwave oven user manual, and the list goes on...), I fear that you may be asked to remove this presentation. 😕 Soon, painting you own roof, will be illegal (I can imagine!). However, once again, entertaining, interesting, and informative. Currently, the house I'm in, has a flat section suitable for comfortable (and safe) rooftop operation. I'll have to make a picnic of it! 😆 73

Peter, This made me laugh. Can't imagine too many of todays kids climbing up a ladder to go roof top portable. I'd rather see a video on stealth antennas. Now, the skip contacts on the Roof are fantastic. This reminds me of other occassions when the sun spot cycle was at a peak. I remember using 5 watts out of a Pye Mark 3A working very solid signals out of Melb from 500 k to Perth, and the USA. Its great seeing your videos and hopefully it will motivate future hams.
